Lyrics:
Never win first place, I don't support the team
I can't take direction, and my socks are never
clean
Teachers dated me, my parents hated me
I was always in a fight cuz I can't do nothin'
right
Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
I'm a hazard to myself
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else"

When I was a teenager, I felt like P!nk was one of the few people who understood
@katetempleton9669
@katetempleton9669 8 жыл бұрын
P!nk once said that when she was a teenager, music saved her life (or smth like that) but modern music can't do that. And I totally agree. When P!nk was younger, her music was about teenage problems which can be related to every teenager. Then she started singing about society, about love and relationships. And modern songs are just about big asses.
@angelsspirit154
@angelsspirit154 8 жыл бұрын
+Kate Templeton Not all of them, and P!nk's music is also modern. I think music speaks to people in different ways. But P!nk was very very important to me when I was growing up, alongside Fall Out Boy, Tokio Hotel and BFMV
@katetempleton9669
@katetempleton9669 8 жыл бұрын
Lemon Vermillion Well, I agree, not all of them. But the biggest part. P!nk helped me when I was having difficult times as a teenager. And so did Eminem, Evanescence, Linkin Park and some other. But I don't see any of modern singers helping kids to get through their problems.

I kind of feel the same way as you. When Pink came out, when she exploded with get the party started, I didn't pay much attention. I liked other singers but I didn't follow her. That started to change in my teens and I became more and more of a fan of her until she became one of my favorite artists. She is simply SPECTACULAR!!! It's crazy that even if we didn't enjoy a song back in the day, when it was released, when we hear it now it takes you back to that time with such special feelings, that is, it's part of our life, you know? I was bullied really bad in middle school and high school… my mom bought me this CD, because she knew I really liked Pink, and thought it would be a good listen for me. She was right. That year, Pink played at the Rose Garden on my 12th birthday, and my mom got me front row tickets. My mom got her attention and told her it was my birthday, and she sung “happy birthday” to me. I’ll never forget that moment. I was so truly happy that my favorite artist actually did that for me. It made me a pink fan for life. Oh, and I got awesome bragging rights!! Thank you Pink! I think so many of us can relate to this song so much... everyone around us always seems successful and happy, with great jobs, relatioships, social life, etc., always sharing pictures of themselves on vacation or otherwise having fun on Facebook, and it feels like we're the only ones miserable. It's probably in large part an illusion, and the people who show off and try to give the impression that they have a great life are just as miserable deep down, but it's hard to convince yourself of that...

Hey guys 😊❤️ I just wanted to tell you that everyone of us was made for a special reason, no one in this world was an accident we are all loved and wanted by our loving Heavenly Father. He always cares and there’s no one who doesn’t matter to him. If everyone was same then also everyone would have the same purpose on this world, and that will never lead to something good. So it’s absolutely necessary to be yourself and to be different and if someone does not see this he or she still seems to be immature, that’s the reason kids bully or get bullied.

This song is currently helping me through some of the worst body image issues I've had since puberty. I've just entered my 30s eager to lose weight (have almost 100 lbs to lose). I'm so excited to do it for both my health and confidence and feel so amazing every time I see the scale go down--but when I look in the mirror, I just feel angry about my body. Not even just its current size but the way it is, its shaped. I wish I could have a perfect hourglass like the women that always seem to come up on my FYP on TikTok. It wouldn't be so bad if I had a pretty face, but I don't. For a while, I just kind of gave up on myself altogether, but now I want to give myself a chance. But I won't lie, some days it's hard.

Having started self harming age 12 when this came out about 3 years later it was like Pink was expressing everything i wanted to say but couldn't articulate back then. It still rings true at times 20 years on ❤

Exactly. I shaved my head too and got a tattoo of a swastika on my neck. I just felt so free finally unleashing my inner skinhead and Nazi and then I burned down a black church to celebrate. It's so liberating, I highly recommend everybody does it.

I'm schizophrenic, bipolar, OCD, and have severe anxiety. I can really feel the chorus. It cuts so deep. "Don't want to be my friend no more, I want to be somebody else."

Jacob my dood, when this tune was all over the charts, we the diagnosed felt it on another level. A secret level. Identifying ur madness in random public forums was not a wise move. Acceptance and validation wasn't what you got back. Thank fook for progress. I guess. ✌️

How could someone like her see the future 20 years advance. The world wasn't ready for her coming. And labeled her so many names. Then we 20 laters the worlds finally realize that she was greatest of her time.

My favourite Pink song. Poignant lyrics for me, too. But was released during a better time in my life, too. “She’s so pretty, that just ain’t me.” You’re very pretty, Pink. I can’t believe music channels in the UK blur out the knife.
