Lyrics : After all you put me through You'd think I'd despise you But in the end, I wanna thank you 'Cause you made me that much stronger Well, I thought I knew you Thinkin' that you were true Guess I, I couldn't trust, called your bluff Time is up 'cause I've had enough You were there by my side Always down for the ride But your joy ride just came down in flames 'Cause your greed sold me out in shame After all of the stealing and cheating You probably think that I hold resentment for you But uh-uh, oh no, you're wrong 'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through So I wanna say thank you 'Cause it makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder Makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah ohh Never saw it coming All of your backstabbing Just so you could cash in on a good thing Before I realized your game I heard you're goin' 'round playin' the victim now But don't even begin feeling I'm the one to blame 'Cause you dug your own grave After all of the fights and the lies Guess you're wanting to hold me But that won't work anymore (no more, aha, it's over) 'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture I wouldn't know how to be this way now and never back down So I wanna say thank you 'Cause it makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter How could this man I thought I knew Turn out to be unjust, so cruel? Could only see the good in you Pretended not to see the truth You tried to hide your lies Disguise yourself through living in denial But in the end you'll see, you won't stop me I am a fighter and I (I'm a fighter) I ain't gon' stop (I ain't gonna stop) There is no turning back I've had enough Makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder (oh) It makes me that much wiser (oh yeah, oh yeah) So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster (yeah) Made my skin a little bit thicker (yeah, yeah, yeah) Makes me that much smarter (yeah) So thanks for making me a fighter (Fighter) You thought I would forget but I, I remembered (ooh-ooh-ooh) 'Cause I remembered (ooh-ooh-ooh) I remembered You thought I would forget (ooh-ooh) I remembered (ooh-ooh) 'Cause I remembered (ooh) I remembered Makes me that much stronger (ooh-ooh) Makes me work a little bit harder (ooh-ooh) It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter

[Intro] After all that you put me through You think I'd despise you But in the end, I want to thank you 'Cause you've made me that much stronger [Verse 1] Well, I thought I knew you, thinkin' that you were true Guess I, I couldn't trust, called your bluff, time is up 'Cause I've had enough You were there by my side, always down for the ride But your joy ride just came down in flames 'Cause your greed sold me out in shame [Pre-Chorus] After all of the stealing and cheating You probably think that I hold resentment for you But uh uh, oh no, you're wrong 'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do, I wouldn't know Just how capable I am to pull through So I want to say thank you, 'cause it [Chorus] Makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter [Verse 2] Never saw it coming, all of your backstabbing Just so you could cash in on a good thing Before I'd realize your game I heard you're goin' 'round playin' the victim now But don't even begin feeling I'm the one to blame 'Cause you dug your own grave [Pre-Chorus] After all of the fights and the lies 'Cause you're wanting to haunt me But that won't work anymore, no more, it's over 'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture I wouldn't know how to be this way now and never back down So I want to say thank you, 'cause it [Chorus] Makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter [Bridge] How could this man I thought I knew Turn out to be unjust, so cruel? Could only see the good in you Pretended not to know the truth You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself Through living in denial But in the end you'll see, you won't stop me I am a fighter and I (I'm a fighter) I ain't gonna stop (I ain't gonna stop) There is no turning back, I've had enough [Chorus] Makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter [Interlude] You thought I would forget but I, I remembered 'Cause I remembered, I remembered [Chorus] Makes me that much stronger Makes me work a little bit harder It makes me that much wiser So thanks for making me a fighter Made me learn a little bit faster Made my skin a little bit thicker Makes me that much smarter So thanks for making me a fighter

Christina revealed it was about learning her ex-boyfriend was gay. Which makes sense "well I thought I knew you...." Sometimes (sometimes) gay guys can date girls before they know they're gay and really do think they're in love and can make it work. This wasn't one of those cases, apparently.

This was the song that got me hooked on Christina. I was going through some emotional crap at the time. This song gave turned my mindset 180°, and made me realise that what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger, your opinions on yourself is what matters, not what other people think. I think I can safely say, this song, along with Soar, saved me from depression in my late teens

She challenges herself with not fitting the norm and experimenting with different genres, and alway tries to speak about being true to yourself. This album legit helped me in sooooo many ways!!! I am a survivor of an abusive relationship. I was 17 and had no idea what was really going on. I have a twenty year old son now. That should speak volumes. Idk where I’d be without this album...I ALMOST wrote a legit letter...this is before the internet really took off to Christina...but I figured it would never be read. Maybe she’ll read this...you saved me girl!!!!! You helped me find strength I didn’t know I had inside of me!!!!! Best part is...back then I could sing every word JUST like you did and sound JUST like you!!! I loved you long before this album though. I know every song on the previous album as well! 😉 Anyway...I want to say thank you!!! I’ll keep singin your songs!!! I know if you reached me you HAD to reach many other young women and you probably still are!!! I hope your legacy as a tough ass bitch continues to influence our young women in this world!!! Keep on singin your songs!! Love Fall In Line as well!!! Demi has obviously picked it up too!! Dancin With The Devil is a new fave of mine...not bc of me but bc of some things that my oldest daughter has been through. You’re awesome, can’t wait for another album!!!! I’ll end this now!! Take care and God Bless! #OneLove

Christina is a rare singer. She’s the best vocalist of the late 90’s ,00’s and ‘10s . This got me through bullying at school.
