Really interesting thanks. Basically the same ship but a few tweaks. The sports court and golf nets were never used so the high ropes and crazy golf is an improvement. The swim up bar will be a bit of a gimmick I think. The retractable roof will be nice with the screen but it won't fix the acoustics. Getting rid of opal and aqua to have new (I assume) extra pay restaurants is probably the right way to go. Mission control looks interesting but losing a cinema screen will be a problem because they were at a premium. There's certain other things that needed fixing first like doubling the size of Brodie's for a start. Nice though.

Thanks for watching! yes - the sports area is always an underused part of the outside deck space - for example the one on Britannia always seems to be empty. Some of the tweaks on Arvia are more subtle than others (for example no library in Andersons Bar and the Aerial artists now perform in the centre of the atrium rather than to the side - as on Iona, plus there's now a piano/performance space in the Atrium in the dead space outside the 710 Club). Re the cinema - One tip is that many of the films shown in the cinema were also in the cabin when we were on board.

Went on Iona in January after a long wait due to covid wanted to go on Iona before our cruise on Arvia 17 March. Iona was lovely and had some great shows was a very big ship and took some navigation but got there in the end. Arvia similar but skydome opened. Arvia had something extra and seemed a livelier ship and had sail aways something not seen on Iona but saying that I don't think I'll be in a rush to cruise on them. I prefer the open deck around the pool for games etc not scattered around the ship.

Yes pools are heated - but expect tepid rather than warm 😆 the hot tubs are much warmer of course

After all the hype I was disappointed with Iona. Whilst I loved the design of the atrium area, the rest of the ship seemed mediocre like there is something missing - it lacks any character. Arvia looks like they've tackled some of those issues.

Iona feels a little ‘colder’ to me but I still love her design.
