I do not understand why some people say that metal does not tell anything in his songs. I think its people who are only exposed to the types of "metal" that come across as just a wall of noise. Where as if you look at some people who have transcribed Sabaton songs onto more classical insturments, it sounds like a classical symphony from one of the great composers.

Carolus Rex is one of my favourite albums (in both English and Swedish). I think it’s absolutely fantastic to learn about history whether it’s my own (I’m Canadian) or another country, especially military history. When learning about those around us, we then try to get a better understand for one another. In school, I was the “weird” girl, because I would rather watch, “Victory at Sea”, “Canada At War”, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and other historical documentaries or want to learn how to drive a tank then “chick flicks” or go shopping (I’m a military brat, it was nothing to visit my Dad (who was Navy) or uncle (who was Army) on Base.

Always :) My children have also inherited the history bug too which is obviously encouraged. I also encourage learning from Veterans and survivors of historical events/battles who lived from through first hand not just in books or tv, because they are our history and once they’re gone all we have are texts. Recently, we just lost another such person, Harry Leslie Smith. Mr. Smith was 95 yrs old. He lived through the Great Depression, a RAF during WWII and became the “World’s Oldest Rebel” standing up those who needed a voice. Sadly, I never met him in person, but I have read his books and spoke with him from time to time on Twitter. And it’s because of people like him, is why I introduced my children to history.

Congrats on reaching quadruple platinum. I'm from the US. I like listening to your music because I love learning about history, mainly military history. I didn't know much about Swedish history until I heard Carolus Rex. I love both the English and Swedish versions. I was learning Swedish before I heard the album so it was helping me get comfortable with pronunciation in Swedish.

I'm actually very happy you made this album in both languages. I can understand the English lyrics, but with having the Swedish version as well, I can listen to Sabaton while doing translation work (I can't listen to music meanwhile in languages I can understand cause it distracts me). And, I like to listen to songs in general sometimes in languages I can't understand.

Pär says that Sweden hasnt been in a war for the last 300 years. But wasnt Sweden a part of the Napoleonic wars in the 1800s?? However i cant wait to get the platinum edition of Carolus rex

Correct. The last time Sweden fought an aggressive war was against Norway in 1814. But if he's referring to the last time Sweden actually dominated, he would be correct.

I never really knew about Swedish history until I listened to Carolus Rex. It has since become one of my favorite subjects! Massively neglected in my opinion. Truly fascinating. P.S. How have you not made a song about the Romans? The battle of Dyrrachium is just sitting there taunting me :P

Carolus Red is one of the more awesome albums I'm still listening at this time. To be honest I've found it not long ago, and the songs are still ecoing in my mind. The song Ruina Imperii is one of the most heart wrenching songs I've listened to that shows the true feeling of brotherhood under despair. And it sounds metal as hell in Sweedish! Can't wait for you to come back to Israel for a show, keep on rocking!

I really like albums about Sweden even if I'm Italian, because, I mean there were less than a page about the Greath Northern War in my history text book and the narration wasn't even fairly sympathetic, even for a text book, On the other hand in yours songs you can feel the involvement and you could also learn something from "northern" prospectives

Carolus Rex album is one of your best albums. It is way better than The Last Stand. Put away the commercial aspect of music, your last had very catchy and simple songs, but I think you can do better, with some more complex songs.. and please make as hear the bass!

I'm Ukrainian and the story of the swedish empire is very close to my heart and my people as well. At the time, my ancestors saw them as potential liberators from Russian oppressors. It's heartbreaking to think this could have been the story but instead we have Russia as a superpower and Ukraine still a type of vassal or serf. It would be amazing to see Sweden and Ukraine Ally together again to beat the rest of Europe and the world.
