Beautiful! Thanks for posting this. You were staying in various hostels ashore each night, presumably?

Thanks! We had a tent on shore, an I also tested a solution with a tarp cover, sleeping two nights in the boat. One night was in a dock house we borrowed from a friend. Now i am working on making a proper tent that covers the whole boat, and will share the results here on my channel. Roger I am really inspired by your videos and might use some of your ideas for making my boat a good cruiser!

This looks fantastic! Super video, thanks for sharing that. I am based in Bergen, and after much thinking much of which triggered by Roger's wonderful book on dinghy cruising, I have started looking into open boat sailing again. I have a sailing canoe project in the garage right now, but to get the family at sea in one boat, we are going to need something larger. Of all the færings, the Nordlands boats are the ones that most appeal to me. . Now, how to get my hands on a hundsrømfæring, or treromsfæring...

You can either look for a second hand boat on FINN.no or go for building a new - for example from the specialist boat builder on such - Ulf Mikalsen in Kjerringøy outside Bodø.

Now that's a vacation! How well do those leather sails work versus the canvas I see on other videos?

Absolutely gorgeous! Can you tell me where to find the boat plans?
@Fredstli3 жыл бұрын
The older traditional boats from Northen Norway is built with trained skills and tradisjon, and they use no plans,

@@Fredstli That is going to make it harder for sure. Can you plank it with marine ply?
@Fredstli3 жыл бұрын
No you can't. The reason is lapstrake ply is glued. These boats is designed to be flexible, like viking ships. I recomend looking at plans for a lapstrake ply construction like this: www.woodenboat.com/boat-plans-kits/19-6-caledonia-yawl

Där är en nästan likadan (större) till salu i Ystad. Jag skulle vilja köpa den om jag hinner sälja några grejer innan båten blir såld. Så ska Ystadsbåten segla till Botniska viken.

Håper du får kjøpt den 😀 Tero! btw. sorry about to loud intro music. the rest of the video-sound is wind and waves 🙂
