Good Lord. HOW have I never heard of his composer before?? I'm a huge Arvo Pärt fan but never heard of this Estonian composer. I only discovered him because I saw one of his songs, Ohtul, on the repertoire for next year for my choir. His music is glorious! Why is this song so short?????

The first time I heard this, I was just hit by all these sudden emotions, right at bar 5. I was taken back, and teared up because of it's sheer beauty. After performing it, I don't know a single performer or audience member who did not like this piece, a rare thing indeed!

This may be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I had the pleasure of singing this at my freshman year of All-State choir and it has stuck in my head ever since

this is so beautiful and so well sung. I understand that this means to the light, but is there a translation of the whole text?

I heard the dream from my silent sleep- heard the bells ringing in the sun's splendor, the skies singing in divine beauty, and even the darkness was smiling from afar. Now the night has pulled me away. I walk in the faded shadows, Humming the song of darkness and light And searching for the dream, for you. (Ernst Enno 1875-1934; English translation by Katie Kring)
