We see S.S Shieldhall arrive at Town Quay, Southampton on a blustery Saturday morning in September 1994 - P.S. Waverley is already there. We board Shieldhall as Waverley departs and we then head down Southampton Water. As advised by the tannoy the day's itinerary changes because of the adverse weather. Shieldhall enters The Solent and anchors off Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Waverley comes alongside for a passenger transfer between the two ships. Having transferred to Waverley and after an exchange of hooters we head for The Needles. In a rolling sea Waverley heads around the Needles and heads along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. We pass Ventnor and call at Sandown Pier. As the light disappears Waverley then calls at Portsmouth and the cruise ends as we arrive back at Town Quay.
