I'm totally in love with his tone, oh god... So pure, so "round", the vibratto is never stressing, perfect dynamic range, makes an almost unique sense of legato in every phrase.. Well I could go on for many other remarkable things which are in my opinion OUTSTANDING (and I don't want to compare but I'm obviously referring in comparison with other professionals). He is definitely my role model. PD: His repertoire is always awesome! So funny that if you pay attention to some of his recordings there are some people who think the piece has already ended and then the last movement starts.. haha (example: performing Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy)

Compare that with the interpretation by Alexis Angulo or even Pahud. What a huge difference! Nothing in common ... For me Formisano is disappointing when playing this piece.

I think we should not compare ... "competition is for horses " as Bela Bartok said . Everybody play very well , and each musician has his own touch , which nobody else would have ...

You know I apologize for my self-righteous comment on this 2 years ago. If the way formisano plays this is disappointing to you then you know that's just your take on it. I don't have a problem with youre view, comparing things is what humans do. We value things and relatives not absolutes. If you have one meal here and then you have another one over there, it's human to say "yeah this one was disappointing I like this one more"
