Vehicle goes into a limp home mode, vehicle lacks power and StabiliTrak warning is on.

I had those 2 codes at the top on mine. Had those changed and now it says pending. My vehicle shakes when im in traffic and have to slow down or have my foot on brakes.

@@waqasazmat81 i live in belize. I had someone buy the equinox from IAA. When the vehicle got here i didn't use it, just took it straight to the body works guy because i wanted that to be dealt with first. When i went to pick it up the guy said i should have a mechanic look at it. So i did. He scanned it. It came up with lots of codes. I got the high pressure fuel pump changed, did and oil change. The person who drove the vehicle from the states to belize said he did a oil change but when my mechanic changed the oil here it was so dark. Ok so changed the oil, filter, pressure pump, sparks plugs and those camshaft thing. All other codes are gone except the P0016 and P0017 and both say pending. The vehicle still shakes when i gotta like slow down at a junction to wait for traffic to pass

It's the variable valve timing sensors they get stuck from dirty oil or metal shavings from the engine they should be replaced. These cars also have timing chain problems stretching due to not changing the oil properly if the chains have a lot of play change them!

Am working on the same faults on 2013 Chvy Malibu 2.5 given me same faults code , i ha changed the vvt sensor and phaser both intake and exhaust and new engine oil but still complaining p0016 -p0089 . Timing too good and all fuses good, I need your help

Make sure timing marks are correct and oil solenoids have been changed as well

my gmc terrain 2011 has p0089,p228d on the panel it says "engine power is reduced" and "Service StabiliTrak" and its been stalling alot and it makes a rattling noise while idle and everytime i accelerate any idea what it could be?

Yes timing chain plays a major factor. Make sure oil level is good. Also check to see if the exhaust and the intake timing solenoids are working correctly.

I have P0016 and P228D codes in my 2010 2.4L Chevy Equinox. Car went into reduced power mode and service stabilitrack came on as well. Car won’t crank over/start now. I’m hoping it’s not the timing chain tensioner. What are your thoughts? Thank you

So would it be timing if you only get the p0016 code. If the timing jumped wouldn't it set both codes? I get p0016, p0089 and p228d.

Its a cause an effect. fuel pump is driven by the cam. So when the timing is off you will get fuel pressure related codes.

Yes it could, change both vvt, oil change. If you’re still having that issue, it’s timing related. Ex. Broken timing guides,or stretched chain. You gotta inspect the chain to see( remove valve cover)

These are interference motors... One tooth off on timing you hit piston to valve. Vhance the intake and exhast vvt solenoids and change the oil. Problem solved. The engine reduces performance due to the intake and exhast solenoids not corresponding the same with one another as they should it cuts pressure to the high pressure fuel pump so it doesnt dump fuel into the cylinders if it cant be birned out properly..... Long story short.... Intake and exhaust vvt solenoids located on apssenger side top of valve covers followed by an oil change. If timing is truly off youd have already hit piston and would require complete top end rebuild. I know this because ive rebuilt several of these motors myself and 1 tooth different anywhere between the crank and cam has contact

Same problems and codes with my 2014 Chevy Captiva LTZ 2.4. Same codes. I changed the HPFP and can tappet, fuel line, spark plugs, battery, oil change twice cuz of gas contamination, VVT solenoids 5-6 times crank sensor both cam sensors ,got better some times it acts normal and drive fine but more so comes bac and throws codes p228D p016 p089 p011 … help me please !! I’m thinking timing , another oil change, or camshaft or cam phaser ???

Hello, good afternoon I lives in Canada I have a Chevy equinox 2013 give me a world of trouble engine power reduced all the time every day but on the highway when you travel 100 km, 80 km it does not do that only does it on 40 or 50 km low speed? I did a bunch of work on it I give up because they spent on that vehicle I bought it for less name it I change fluid pump in the tank, high pressure fluid pump sensor. Have a shop look at it, check oil level as well see if oil level is good. Chances are timing needs an attention.

Good afternoon. It's almost a year since a 2012 equinox 2.4 4 cylinder engine was ring. A few days ago I noticed that it started to emit blue smoke. The PVC valve has already been cleaned, the oil has been changed, I put liqui moly molygen 5w30 oil in it, but it continues to emit blue smoke. Can someone guide me please?

Check oil level first, if that is fine then check variable timing solenoids for their proper operation.
