P0305, P1313 and P1111 code fix on Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 Petrol (Coil and plug replacement)

My car recently developed a misfire. Here's the video on how I diagnosed the fault and fixed it. You need not be afraid of lifting the inlet manifold on this car. There are a lot of scare stories but it's very straightforward. Just take your time.

Sounds like you need to replace the plug well gaskets which you need to remove the cam cover for.

Agreed. If they are recent then it's easy and problem free. If they've been there longer than 12 months or so then I'd recommend using some RTV like I did in the clip.

P1111 which means all systems test OK, P1000 which means all systems test pending (code reset). All x types log these codes.

Great step by step explanations, now i can tackle plugs replacement . Mine is a 2008 petrol 3.0 awd. Please advise where the EGR valve is located and how you clean it. I only saw demonstrations on diesel engines.

Thank you! I'm glad it helped! To the best of my knowledge, the V6 petrol X-Types do not have an EGR valve.

Thanks Mike, sadly I don't have a video on replacing those lower gaskets. It was quite cold and I wanted to get the job done replacing the coils and plugs!

It's actually cold here atm so hoping it warms up abit for my plug and coil etc job that is ahead .. Just have a cold start issue in the morning runs like a pig and cruise control doesn't activate ... Spongy brakes Misfires on 4 banks and a P1313 showing up .. Tipping inlet manifold gaskets and the plugs and coils... Getting all sorts of answers from the " Brain 🧠 Trusts " on the platform's.. I would welcome your feedback on my issue please .. Thanks

I have the same car. All plugs new one coil replaced. Getting p0305 and p1316 but it’s saying injector circuit idm codes detected. Everywhere I go the 1316 means something different

My X type runs like a pig on its morning start for about 5 -10 mins and then when she warms up no issue's for the rests of the day .. Sorry this is a late reply, the fuel rail will need removing and the injectors then pull out. You can use a mix of spanners and flat screwdrivers carefully to make this happen.

Thanka for the video, my 2005 xtype v6 is having issues starting, its throwing the codes p0300 p1316 p1111. Previous i changed out all my o2 sensors now i have no idea what i am doing.

The p1111 is part of the self check and appears on all cars. It goes away naturally. P0300 and p1316 indicate a misfire. P0171 and 174 are interesting because that tells you both backs are running lean. I would check for vac leaks, clean or replace maf sensor and clean the throttle body. Also try starting with the gas cap removed in case its valve has failed and causing an air lock reducing fuel flow.

Ive got a misfire cyl 3 on my v6 x type. Also shows P1313 Cat Damage. Had periodic flashing engine light. Had to drive 50km to get home. Been running very short trips lately on low fuel. 108 thousand km on clock. So might (hope) just picked up crap from bottom of tank? Put a bottle of fuel cleaner in and filled up hoping it will resolve??? Read many posts about vacuum leaks causing misfires but assume as this is only on one cylinder its likely a plug or coil or both??? Assume if leak it would miss on 1, 3 and 5?? Hassle is its rear bank....bugger.

I would imagine you have a failing coil pack on cylinder 3 and a plug wildly out of spec. Get the coils and plugs changed and you should be golden.

@@xlyte_performance Thanks, just watched the vid through. It’ll have original plugs and coils. Hopefully manifold will come off ok. Am in New Zealand so parts cost gold! Found Alvadi website and they ship here. Looks cheaper. If I get manifold gaskets do I need to remove all the vacuum hoses and get the manifold right out of the way to get best access? Those clips all look as brittle as hell. Oh and I suppose it’s false economy just to do the one coil but six plugs?

@@allanpennington it's not likely the cat is damaged if the issue is only recent. A collapsed cat tends to give a bank failure code rather than just one cylinder. You don't have to remove all the vac hoses but it does assist access the more you remove.

hello there is awsf22fs spark plug on x type 3.0. what do you think the reference ohms of spark plug What brand did you put in the new coil, do you have denso zero?

I'm not sure on the resistance however if all 6 are similar then they should be ok. I would advise visual inspection to confirm the condition is ok. My coil packs are Denso and plugs are NGK.
