Thank you again so much for all these videos. It makes doing any maintenance on a P320 so much easier. I was changing out my sear springs and lo and behold a safety leaver spring fell out. Again after watching your videos, I was able to understand that my gun is the new version that didn’t need it, but they might have still been installing when initially assembled as it was still part of the protocol. Also, you defiantly put my mind at ease with all the "Un-commanded" discharges out there. After you had explained exactly how all the internals work, I find it hard to believe that they “just” go off.The trigger seems to be the only way to start the process of firing the gun. You and ‘Grande Thumb” who dropped a p320 14 times and never got it to go off settles it as far as the ‘New” pistols go.

Enjoying my first short video, your videos are the best I ever seen, you go into great detail step by step on in your videos, explaining every single thing that particular video is about. I love the P320 handgun especially the X Compact, I would like to see you do a video on the different sizes of the P320 from the full size down to the subcompact, For new p320 enthusiasts the different size frame, slide, etc. can get very confusing, I know it took me a while to figure it out, it is complated at first. I really enjoy your videos and anything I need to know about the P320 I look for your videos nothing else, and thanks again for the best vidoes ever on the P320 platform.

Hey @Eugene Asher. Thank you for the vote of confidence and the kind words! Things seem to be moving along with the channel faster than I anticipated, so I'm close to starting to introduce new firearms (P365) and get more into popular upgrades too. Also, I completely agree, I remember starting out and wondering why there were so many configurations and options that all kind of looked the same more or less...super confusing. (I think it's pretty standard to see people questioning what version P320 they own even!) Anyway, just wanted to say I'm thrilled your enjoying the channel and I'm glad to have you here!

This dual spring assembly for the sear seems like a logical place for investigation into alleged unintentional firing claims not directly associated with user errors.😊
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Since the striker also has a safety, the trigger would need to be pulled sufficiently for that safety to move out of the way. If the sear is the only thing moving, then the striker safety will stop the AD.

Excellent video, thank you for your effort. I'm still waiting for my P320 to arrive at my FFL, but I want to learn about my firearm beforehand. Can the condition of the sear spring be checked without disassembling it? I mean, by just removing the FCU from the grip, can I inspect the condition of the sear spring? Or should I just replace it every 5000 rounds? It also seems like Sig no longer sells the spring individually but only as part of a whole assembly. I would appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks.

Thank you! If you’re looking to learn about the P320, you’re definitely in the right place for it! You can (sort of) see the springs, but not very well and not completely. I’d simply replace them as needed, you have a higher likelihood of accidentally crushing a spring by disassembling the FCU (trust me I know from lots of experience). This really using a common problem however, you will most definitely be fine for a long time. However, if you run into any problems send me a message at sigmechanics@gmail.com

You need to push the sear pivot pin in enough to allow the safety lever to turn down an extra few millimeters. After that the assembly just comes apart. I will do a video on the lever soon.

Thanks for this! I did have 1 surprise. I got the sear springs in and was just about to put everything back together when I saw something fall out; it was the safety lever spring. This is an April 2017 FCU and has undergone the recall. I have no good reference how this goes back in. Any guidance or references?

If you have the captured safety lever in there, there is no need to replace that pin (captured lever has the two sharp tabs at the bottom of the lever)

question. while doing this i happened to notice i have the safety lever spring in my POST recall FCU? i thought that was taken out. regardless i put it back in. question is. did the tech at the recall mess up, or is it suppose to be there and if anything it helps resetting of the safety lever. i don’t know what to think now. lol
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 5 ай бұрын
There doesn’t seem to be a standard. I don’t see that spring often but it’s not uncommon to find. Technically, as long as you have the captured safety lever you can go ahead and remove that spring with no consequence.

great video - just a question, is having two sear springs important? Im thinking if I removed one of them, it could reduce trigger pull weight. Would that work?
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 2 жыл бұрын
@g26westgate. I’ve done this and it works to an extent. The only issue with having one is a minor amount of slanted movement caused by the sear unevenly dropping (very little). I recommend just getting some “competition” light springs like what the Grayguns kit gives you.

I haven't seen this asked before - but did polishing the entire FCU make any difference in grit or smoothness? I'm a proponent of removing those little irritations if I can and don't mind taking the time to do it. I did it with the feed ramp on my stock barrel and it made that FIRST round a LOT smoother as it almost seemed to bind a bit, now it's smooth as butter so I can keep 17 in instead of 16. I reload ammo so I do look very closely at my brass, especially if it's the same round being tested for smoother insertion, and I have noticed very light scoring marks on the FIRST (17th) round going in, but not so much on the next (16th) and the entire assembly just kinda get's smoother. Low round count on a new piece so I considered that it might simply be break-in causing that first binding/not smooth insertion.
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 2 жыл бұрын
Polishing the outer frame of the FCU will likely not make any difference to the overall function. However, polishing the inner diameter of the through holes probably will. You have given me a good idea, I was going to do a video showing people how to polish the FCU but now I will add a before and after trigger test to see if there’s any noticeable change in smoothness.

How often do you suggest to check those springs?
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 2 жыл бұрын
You can test/check most springs with each cleaning. The reset spring can be tested by compressing the striker and releasing it to see if it pops back. Replacing them can be ever 3-5 thousand rounds for the most part.

That is a factory part called the “skeletonized trigger”. Part number: 8900095. There is also a “gold” version that comes with the custom works FCU: 8900301 In my opinion one of the best factory triggers for the P320! Hope this helps!

@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 3 жыл бұрын
hey @TJ Meyers USPSA, nice! How was your experience? I tried it once and didn’t find it to be too bad. My only thought may be to use a spring on the left sear pin. Not for any particular reason except that when the takedown lever actuates the sear it pulls it from the left side of the sear leg and it (might) help to avoid the spring getting crushed. However, in order to keep the balance of having two springs…my ultimate advice would be, use two springs with one spring being a substantially lighter one. That way it reduces the pull weight but also keeps something there to protect the spring integrity long term. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
@Shootfstr1
@Shootfstr1 3 жыл бұрын
@@SIGMECHANICS So far it’s been great the trigger pull weight dropped about 8oz. I did put them on the left pin that was my thought also. But so far reliability has not been an issue. Now that I have your trick I will be able to check the Springs for crushing much easier. So I will update after a few thousand rounds.

Why is there 2 different stock trigger bars?
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS 3 жыл бұрын
@2wEntEe. The one with the “extra” back material is the standard trigger bar and there is a version that has the back “cut off”, (like in this video) that is for when you have a manual safety. However, Sig also puts the manual safety version trigger bar on the P320 legion, so you may see that from time to time…the question usually is, is there a difference, there isn’t.

@@SIGMECHANICS What’s weird is, on the standalone FCU, they put the regular one on the box and the manual safety version in the box.
