If the right engine is down shouldn't the plane be rolling to the right?????
@Chewwy947 жыл бұрын
You need to look closer at the takeoff roll. When the engine fails after v2 the aircraft tries to bank dramatically to the right, which I counter with moving my joystick to the left. When the autopilot is in place the aircraft can handle losing one engine by manipulating the control surfaces to maintain level flight.

@funkydrumming7 жыл бұрын
Aiden Bradley the engines are so powerful rudder alone is not sufficient to keep her straight and level. So the rudder and ailerons are needed into the live engine.

How do you Pre program the failure? I'm a Dash 8 Pilot and use Majestic for emergency training ahead of sim checks. Didn't realise you could get it to do this. Great video fella!
@nicrative8077 жыл бұрын
Hello Tim. The failure event was triggered from the system panel where I created special command for the engine failure. The current Pro version doesn't really support triggering failures that well as that's planned to have full support on the Training edition. However you have the resources currently to create yourself the scenarios for failures by some simple scrip coding. So if you want things like engine failures/fires, or anything really you have to build it yourself. majestic provides some documentation on it currently and some help can be found from the forums as well. Hopefully that helps a bit you. Simulators are a good way to practice failures and definitely help with the sim checks, especially if you get a friend in the same cockpit to make the crew management realistic. /Nic

I noticed you were adjusting your ailerons as you entered the runway, as if to correct for crosswind, but it wasn't kept on the actual takeoff, so that's not right. Was that on purpose?
@Chewwy947 жыл бұрын
MillionFoul That may have been me utilising the joystick as a tiller to taxi onto the runway. Once on takeoff role the rudder pedals are used. I think that's what you're referring to? If not let me know :)
@MillionFoul7 жыл бұрын
Chewwy94 I think, maybe? All I know is that ailerons can be positioned to help counter crosswind, and you just slowly pull out the correction as your airspeed picks up on the takeoff roll. Was simply wondering if that's why you can see the yoke turning as you line up for the runway.
@Chewwy947 жыл бұрын
MillionFoul I'm pretty sure it is just me using the joystick as a control surface for the tiller whilst taxiing as the rudder in the Q400 doesn't allow much movement at all at taxi speeds.

I was talking to my Twitch chat, which had almost 200 concurrent viewers in. I may be the captain in the flightdeck but this is just a bit of fun, not the real thing, I am also keeping the viewers up to date as any broadcaster should do. Both myself and my co-pilot went through this scenario a few times just to work out dynamics and we were both happy with how we handled it. Thanks for the comment all the same.
@nicrative8077 жыл бұрын
You are right, I did all the work with the emergency checklists and procedures. That's how it's supposed to be. But I didn't do all the work at all with the emergency. Crew management in emergency situations is essential. First thing you always want to do is to fly the plane, that's what pilot flying does, unless Captain takes over the control. So one pilot focuses on keeping the plane in air while the other pilot takes the QRH out and does the procedures explained there. After that pilots discuss about options and what they want to do. It's all about CRM. Thanks for the comment anyways. /Nicrative

@killianfox9037 жыл бұрын
Joan Pons Landing on not a runway would be a crash landing. This is 100% an emergency landing.
@TheFlightSimDeck7 жыл бұрын
Joan Pons, what you're talking about is called "ditching." Anytime water is involved that is the terminology. Calling this an emergency landing is 100% accurate. An emergency landing is simply a diversion to the nearest air field. Then you have forced landing which is putting the plane down anywhere you can.
@GearGrinder11336 жыл бұрын
I’d check before you say anything an emergency landing is on a runway. A forest is a definite crash
