Started watching your videos after reading Peter Eagan's recent article about his Himalayan. I've always been a fan of thumpers, have two now, and the Hima seems like a great alternative for more leisurly touring for my 76 YO short bod.. Have made 3 trips to AK over the last 8 years and the last was a 1 way from Portland to Anchorage on MotoQuest rentals with my cousin and a good friend from New Zealand. A grand time. The videos of your initial ride, home to Anchorage got me started following your episodes. I think this one tops them all, especially for the scenes through the Brooks Range. The whole presentation has been phenominal and the drone shots are especially breathtaking. Love your accompanying music choices. Am looking forward to my RE dealer in San Diego recieving his expected shipment of 2021s soon. I very well may ride one home. Cheers and have a safe, warm winter..

I have the Peter Egan article (Cycle World, Issue 3, 2020) sitting next to me right now. Headed to the cabin today. Will probably read it up there. So glad you think this episode tops the rest. Going to be hard to keep up that level of scenery and filming, but I'll try. Best of luck to you on nabbing one of those Himalayans in San Diego. I like San Diego. Great area to live. Might revisit some day. Thanks for watching and commenting Mike! Cheers from Alaska!

Great adventure series; I stumbled on your channel when you were taking your Himalayan from Seattle to Alaska. I was reminiscing about a trip I DID NOT TAKE on the Alcan (from California) when I retired 14 years ago. (Have a soft spot for mid-size single cyl bikes too) Funny thing after a couple of episodes I kept seeing Itchy Boots popping up so I ended up watching her every episode. And Nora's. And Kinga's. All the ADV chicks. (And I don't remember if you ever got to Alaska!) Just this AM I rediscovered your stuff. Epic! Looking FWD to #5.

Mate, your KZbin channel is, by fair, the most thrilling channel related to motorcycles and trips. I think Royal Enfield owns some money, because everytime I watch one of your videos I feel like I should buy a Royal Enfield Himalayan. I would like to ask you one(some) thing(s). Have you ever had any mechanical problem with your Himalayan? Here in Brazil this motorcycle has a bad reputation. For instance, I have heard some cases about poor sealing on the dashboard and even some problems on the cylinder head where it looses compression due to knocking. Anyway... Please keep doing this job for us. It is just amazing the way you show us the scenes and mix it all together with the soundtrack. JUST PERFECT. 👍🏻

Like everyone who has been there it brings back the memories of a great ride. I did it in May 2015. The idea was to paddle in the artic ocean. It was not to be. We found it frozen. Still we made snow angels instead. I don't know how you were brave enough to camp. The midges/mosquito's were overwhelming. So far your journey looked quite dry. Was it? We had a lot of wet areas especially at Beaver Slide. I still have the road dirt 5 years later cemented onto the bike even though the first thing I did was to pressure wash it off. Must of missed a bit. Looking forward to the next episode. John

In our C rations (canned) we got cigarettes, toilet paper, chocolate and dry water biscuits yes and chicklets. There were many variations traded but the omlette and pork and beans were always a fave. I was fortunate to be an APC driver (M113/M114) and mechanic. We went to the 67-68 Chicago riots and I drove one of the supply 3/4 tons so I had my pick of everything. Can't beat a good rations pack.

Those MREs are a lot different than the ones I “enjoyed” while in the Army in the 70s.
@KARMAkazeMoto3 жыл бұрын
I bet! I ate some of those old 70s-style ones when I was a kid. They still make some that are a little similar to those, like the ones I usually had when I served, but these made by Mountain House are provided to the troops in Alaska for winter use. They must either want to give them more calories to stay warm, or give them a better meal to keep morale up despite freezing their butts off. Probably both. So not everybody in the Army gets these even today. Just the cold temp places. That's my understanding anyway.

I hope you do too. It's a fantastic trip and honestly it's not very difficult assuming you make the trip before the cold weather sets back in. I got caught up in snow and ice on my way back. That has not been seen in the videos yet. The best advice I can give you is it is to plan to have plenty of time so that you are not rushed. Your goal should be that from Coldfoot to Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse you can freely choose to wait out any bad weather or muddy road conditions. In my mind, there is no reason to do the trip unless you can see all the surrounding landscape and wildlife. So in Coldfoot you should have a minimum of one entire week even though the ride only takes a couple of days. All the best!

SO glad you liked what you saw Iron Man! Good to hear from you. Gosh, one of my oldest subscribers now. KZbin is notifying me of 2 years! Hope the next video is equally enjoyed. Lots of long, flat miles, so I'll have my work cut out for me to make it captivating.
