You should add another, more common, explanation for such resetting. The "Expected Dates". Which happens when you, for example, take over an already much massaged schedule from somebody else. So, check for expected dates, and remove them or adjust them as needed. Naturally, the easy way to check for that culprit is to uncheck "Use Expected Dates" in scheduling calculation options. If it turns out to be true, then, as already said, remove them or adjust them.
