By furling the tail section, does the tail of the fly lose any of it's mobility/action? I've never seen that technique- so cool!

It does seem to lose some mobility but still catches fish. I've tried simply using a single strand and melting the end with a lighter as well. It creates better movement but tends to be a lot less durable. You can also furl the FNF Chewing Gum Chenille for this pattern. It's a smaller version of the Predator 9 but essentially the same stuff. It creates a thinner profile but does wiggle a little more too.
