Rifle season may have been a bust for what seems like 99% of us across PA but it's always good to see there are guys like Tom & the crew still having a GREAT time enjoying camp life. That's what it's all about, the spirit of the hunt is more than just venison. Congrats on the Delaware harvests and club partnership too. Hopefully, explaining how ours is set up was helpful. Vibe of the camp seemed to be off because of the Saturday hunting for sure. (even if it wasn't opening day, it would have been the same had it been!) Hard to put into words. Before this year, we all got to see a few days of hijinks and anticipation of Monday morning right along with you boys. This year, everybody sorta rolled in and got right into it. Really like the idea of going back to a Monday start followed by two Sundays in a row. Thanks for doing the video. Great job as always!
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
I agree, Friday night, who knows instead of being in bed I would have been up dancing with the guys! "A few days of hi-jinks and anticipation of Monday morning" is what makes the memories, not sitting alone in your stand. Lost a day of either good cooking, or burning more food! It's just an adjustment that I hope we get use to. Thanks Steve!!

@@whiterook85 I stumbled upon your video and I have a camp in Forest County, Pa. I live in Ohio. Been hunting Pa. since 1967. First of course with my dad. Now with my sons and their friends and my 65 yr. young sister. I got a beauty 9pt. the first morning, but was the only one to set sights on big enough horns. Lucky me, this year. But it was somewhat subdued in camp after driving up on Friday and the first day hunt on Saturday. Old traditions die hard. Being together, sharing laughs, chores, plans and strategies are what makes it so much more enjoyable. After all, if you don't get a deer, you still take home all the memories.
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
Wayne, congrats on the 9 pointer, sounds like a beauty! I agree on the Saturday hunt, even though I was there by myself the first weekend, the guys pulling in the second weekend it just felt off. That 48 hour weekend is where you build the memories that last a lifetime. Not that getting a nice deer fads over time, can remember most of my deer like I was right there again. Would like them to go back to Monday, then run it straight through if needed. I don't hunt Sundays if I can avoid it, but wont mind if the folks with less free time have a chance to get out there.

Great Video! CampCook appeared to be slightly off his game as masterchef this season and it was easy to tell by the facial expressions of the Chairman that he had missed the mark. He did however rebound at the end with the pulled pork dish although marred with some controversy and remarkably improved his ax swing. Some great dishes were prepared though. That one with the biscuits and sausage gravy gave me hunger pains. Kudos to the guys for not taking risky shots at deer..shows great sportsmanship. Congrats on your Delaware buck Whiterook85 ! Thanks again for the hard work that goes into putting these together! Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks Tim, they really gave it a try even in the rain. I was warm and dry inside while they were giving it all they could. Also like that they just didn't start slinging lead at one too far away. Even after all this time with no deer they still were respectful to their quarry. The camaraderie is part of being at a Camp and not hunting out of your house. That extra "down" time with your family and friends are where you really build a bond. I think some of the thumbs down people are looking for a deer kill video, I don't do those normally, let them be on the Outdoor Channel. I think others are just non-sportsman that subscribe so they can just thumbs down ever video I put out. What they don't realize is that thumbs down is just as effective as a thumbs up in the KZbin world. Marry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

@@whiterook85 I don't know about you, but I am not getting any younger, and my knees are shot from both climbing and then coming down these steep northcentral PA mountains. So I am hoping there is a next year, and I know that things can happen. Anyhow, I hunt in northern Lycoming and central Dauphin counties, and obviously I talk with a lot of people who hunt all over PA, and we all had the same experience - the deer were just not moving in their usual ways. Up at the top of the mountain behind our place, there are ancient deer trails worn deeply into the hard rocky soil. Snow showed no deer using them this year, and instead they were moving all over in other locations. Super weird year. Your picture of the fisher is fantastic. I have never seen one in PA, though I have been trapping for them for five years.

Thanks, another year of no deer, which I thought wouldn't happen due to having the doe tags. The Chairman could have got a couple, next year he needs to have a tag also. I told cook I would cut the wings in to party size pieces and get rid of the part no one eats, and also told him to do two batches. Which would have resulted with him burning both of course.

Great video as always. Nice to see ya'll were watching some real (SEC) football. Favorite quote from the video was " chop some more wood Steve, this is what the people want to see." You know you're making good content when you make a deer camp video without kills and still getting views. I really do like that ya'll focus on camp life thats what a lot of other hunting channels are missing and is the reason Im subscribed to your channel. I'm always rooting for yall to get a deer because I would love to see the celebration that happens afterwards. If we want to send yall some beverages to try for next year where can we ship it to? I want yall boys to try some of these southern craft beers.

Also, still think you guys need to rough it more. get outside and have a drink by that outdoor fire pit. LOL just messin with ya.

Would have liked to, but it was a little nasty out there. Was fun to do it in Kentucky while we where there. One heck of a fire going. Went through about a tree in a day and a half. Thanks! Would have loved for Steve to get a shot at a doe. Would have really set the video on fire, whoops we did already!

Well if nothing else, you guys sure do eat and drink well. Very generous of all those who sent you the beer! Btw, I just subbed your channel. I've been a long time subscriber of sintax.

That is true, with the Saturday hunting we really didn't get in our "normal" state on Friday and Saturday nights. Thanks for the sub!

Perfect camp video. Brings back some great memories of deer camp in Potter county. Where is your camp? Keep that deer camp tradition going.

Glad you enjoyed it, it's the Camp life that brings me back year after year. We are in Tioga County, between Wellsboro and Ansona.

Clearfield, Moshannan state forest on Saturday. I missed two bucks that the locals drove past my stand at 1200 hours. I have to practice shooting at a running buck on a power line. Oh well, good time none the less. Weather moved in Sunday and we had to vacate Monday PM or stay until Wednesday or Thursday. Unfortunately that wasn't in anybody's work schedule. Saturday hunting is a sucess in my opinion. Watched college footbal on Saturday night and the NFL on Sunday along with a couple of beers. Thanks for the video. Keep them coming.

Hitting a deer on the run takes lots of practice. I've heard of using an old tire, put cardboard in the center, then have someone roll it down a hill (all while being safe of course), is a good way to practice. That storm was pretty bad, glad I was there already.

Awesome video! I went up the opening day of buck then the last Friday and Saturday of rifle season. Seen 7 total on the the last Friday and Saturday. Love watching your videos. Wasn't near as much shooting as I expected to hear.
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jason, same here, didn't hear a lot of shots. Seemed like a down year, but most likely the Game Commission will report another RECORD year.

It's nice to get a day at camp to prep & goof off, but sometimes planning means getting down to business. Some guys with newer jobs, shuffled vacation days etc. Camp is a good time, cheers. Thinkin you guys could use some food plots.
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
A few more food plots would help, have also thought about clear cutting one of the lots.

Congratulations to you and your son on becoming a part owner of the camp. Seems like you have the same feelings as I do about the start of deer on Saturday. It took a lot away from the "camp" time. I saw the least amount of hunters out this year then ever and heard the least amount of shooting all year. Hopefully they go back, as schools are making next years schedules now and are not including Monday off anymore. Lastly you guys should try smoking your wings... I do it at camp and they come out tasting amazing. Cool video and thanks for letting us come along.
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Shawn and I are happy to part of the Camp now. Should have happened a while ago. Didn't like the Saturday even though I was there by myself for the first day. Really no activity to speak of hunter or shot wise in my area. Cook wanted to smoke the wings (sssshhhhhhh, don't say anything), but Eric needed it for the ribs so he was bumped over to the grill.

Another great video! Thanks, been waiting on it. Hope your back gets to feeling better. With all the effort you guys put in to nourish your deer, what is the camp consensus on why the sightings and deer numbers seem so low? One of you guys are due to to connect a good one soon. I lucked out with a dandy 11 point last Friday, after a long, miserable season here in Pa. Looking forward to your next video! Thanks again
@whiterook855 жыл бұрын
Congrats on that 11 pointer, a real accomplishment! One of the problems we have is that there is a lot of area around us that gets zero pressure. So the deer just filter into those areas and hangout until the season is over. Will keep trying.

Whiterook85! I came across one of your videos and the rest is history! I binged watched all your videos and love what you and the boys are doing. My dad and I are hunting buddies and have forged a great relationship through hunting over the years. I’m in the military and served for the past nine years and sometimes we can’t link up to hunt. I can now watch your videos to remind me of the great time we have had over the years as it’s the same feeling y’all have. I grew up hunting the VT woods, anyways, thank you and keep posting!

Chris, first thank you for your Service and sacrifices you make for the Country. Glad I could fill the void until you and your Pop are able to link up and get out there again. We try to have some fun and make good memories, if a deer happens, well it's just a bonus there. It will at some point. Thanks for your offer to send some Missouri beers to the cabin. Touch base with me as we close in on next season and I will send you my address. Here's my email address. rook.lxxxv@gmail.com Thanks again for the kind words!

Hey Tom, great video as always. Really felt like I was right there in camp with you guys. Congrats in becoming part owners of the camp, you guys put in a ton of work and deserve it. Some years are better than others when it comes to the deer but getting to be with the guys and keeping up the traditions is where the real fun lies. Thanks for the shout out and couldn't agree with you more about the haters!
