#PAsuperload22 passing by the Moosic street exit (I-81 mile marker 184) around 11:40 PM January 14. The speed was approximately 40.1 miles per hour. The load is carrying an empty fuel tank which was part of a D1G Prototype reactor for the U.S. Navy from the Kenneth A. Kesselring site (PennLive.com). The load weighs nearly 590,000 pounds according to The New York Times. No need to worry about the radioactivity since the load emits less radiation in one hour than you would receive on a cross country commercial flight (New York Times).
Speed calculated between 0:05.25 and 0:09.5 seconds during the video. Each line is 10' and each space between lines is 30'. 7 lines and 6 spaces were passed during those 4.25 seconds which makes 250 feet in 4.25 seconds. Divide 250 by 4.25 and get 58.82 feet/ second. Multiply by 3600 for feet per hour and you get 211,764.7 feet/hour. Divide by 5,280 to get 40.1 miles per hour.

I agree. You got me thinking so I did a rough calculation. It looks like they passed 6 stripes in 6 seconds, so depending on stripe spec would be like this: 15(foot stripe)+25(foot space) x 6(stripes) / 6 (seconds total) x 3600 (seconds per hour) / 5280 (feet per mile) = 34MPH. 10(foot stripe)+30(foot space) x 6(stripes) / 6 (seconds total) x 3600 (seconds per hour) / 5280 (feet per mile) = 27MPH. What do you think?

@@guyalien just measured in google earth. Stripes are 10 feet long with about 30 feet between each stripe.

@@guyalien after doing frame by frame in my editing I found it did 250 feet in 4.25 seconds ((250/4.25 ) x (3600)) / 5280 is 40.1 miles per hour.

@@thomaskerrigan3244 Great analysis ++. I did not consider that measurement possibility.

@@thomaskerrigan3244 Fascinating both in the improved speed measurement accuracy and the overall travel speed being over the limit. Given the resultant speed, is it possible the video was sped up to make it more visually attractive?

It looks like 8 tires per axle and it is using 2 lanes. Would that mean that the load per axle is double how they calculate standard load requirements? Also, when a super heavy load is permitted to pass on a given road, how much over the normal load per axle is allowed?
