I had the unbelievable pleasure of seeing Pablo Cruise play at the Maltese Falcon bar in Chico, California in about 1975/76. My girlfriend and I sat about 5 or 6 feet away from them performing all their beautiful music at that time. It was one of the highlights of my life so far!

Was there for that show. Helluva evening it was. Also saw them at Laxson Auditorium CSUC. RIP Bud Cockerel. (Unfortunate that this recording was cut off early.)2

Long ago, far away in a little beach town, in the civic auditorium, there played a band... Only a handful of listeners came to see them.. no one apparently had heard of them. My friend and i though, traveled and hour just to listen to this one song. So there we were, chins atop our arms folded on the edge of the stage as the band let it loose, seemingly just for us. Magic is what it was to us. Later the headliner band came on and packed the place. But to us, we already had what we came for.

I bought this 8 track tape just because I saw the words Ocean Breeze for a whole track.... AND it was Pablo Cruise!!!!!! Fell in love on the first notes and Im blown away that theyre making their beautiful music here, STILLLL!!!! I saw them and the Doobie Brothers in late 70s and both bands were on stage for the finale. No music matches them today. Thank you so much for putting this out here!!!! All my music got left when moving yrs ago. But I did put many of Pablo C. songs on a tape I made at the beach, while camera was on the stormy waves and a seagull flying to this song. So great!!!!!!

Funny how many Progressive Rock influences showed up in other genres in the 70's. Common to hear those influences in Jazz Fusion and Album Oriented Rock. More rare in Soft Rock and R&B. But with bands like Pablo Cruise, Ambrosia, Toto, Steely Dan, you get a mixed bag of all those genres. Just makes things more creative, complex, and sophisticated. Something music has lacked greatly in more recent years.

Due to budget cut backs years ago art programs were cut out. You have an entire generation that is woefully lacking in music appreciation and ignorant in poorer areas.

If by Prog Rock influences, you mean guys who could really play, compose and took chances, giving their music space and ideas, stretching out for extended solos that made sense and reached a crescendo that isn't just every instrument @ once - LOUDER + LONGER...then yes! Musicians took chances and genres were wide and fluid, less constricting and segregated. It was a wonderful time for music.

Spent many summer evenings in my 1976 Charger with my girl (wife now) cruising around town listening to Cory Lerios and the boys - Runnin', Ocean Breeze, El Verona, I Want You Tonight, Tonight My Love, Worlds Away, Don't Want To Live Without it, and all the rest... Tight , tight, tight group.

Sat in the fourth row in front of a speaker stack about twelve feet high, just after the first LP was released (CU Macky Auditorium). Fantastic show. About fifteen years later saw them again at a smaller venue and when they asked for special requests twenty or so of us all stood up and begged for this song...and they wouldn't play it. "Anything but that one...". But at least I heard it once, and it was truly magical.

This is a great vibe. If you like this, you would probably also like the Sea Level albums from the same era. I wish rock with some instrumental proficiency was still relevant in the 21st century. It seems like these kids can't stop texting long enough to take in a twelve minute piece.

Holy shit before I even read this was randomly listening to Sea Level Tidal Wave live 1977. If you ever listen to Journeys 1st 3 albums and Gino Vannelli Gist of the Gemini it all kind of goes well together, you could Neal Schon or Gino Vannelli in this band it would rock pre 1980s.

I just listened to this after maybe 20 years. The last time I remember, was about five o'clock in the morning, with my wife , on the way to work. She had never heard this song, and it most definitely took her away to a secret place that only chosen souls are allowed to go. There are not many songs that can bring to tears, but I can barely see to type through the tears as I listen to this masterpiece. Oh My God, what has happened to us, that we don't have such beautiful music to drive us on to greater and greater heights of understanding. I miss those days so much😢
