One of the most sublime moments in all of musical history at 18:20. Unfortunately, it's often mixed in such a way that it's barely audible. You absolutely fucking NAILED it to the wall. My jaw hit the floor as this sublime moment was given air to breathe. Capucin plays this with exceptional tenderness and care, but it gets lost in the mix. For me, this is honestly one of the most incredible aural pleasures I think it is possible to experience. Truly, truly outstanding. On the second time through, you've played with a little different mood and it draws our attention and makes us wonder why. Not a question of technique, but a question of intent and meaning. I believe this is the best use of a repeated phrase - don't show me how it's the same, make me wonder why it's different. Now you're building a narrative. Notable in your performance for me is the precision and crispness on the left hand fingerboard work. Even the slurs still had a bold clarity to them - and this is a piece that needs boldness. Even for YoYo's performance of this, which is otherwise superb, the one thing that I find a little weak is the boldness of the sound. The instrument he's using is capable of unbelievable sweetness, but falls a bit short where it comes to tearing it up on the more savage portions. I think you've done very well with this. (15:10-15:30 or thereabouts for the mids and 16:00 or so for the highs). David Finckel has some great ideas about the art of performance and one thing that I really appreciated is something I have heard elsewhere. It is the idea that you let the piece itself determine how it is to be played. It always disappoints me a bit when I heard someone incredibly competent like MaYoYo playing, but because he has played it so many times, he is a little lax on this and just plays it the way he plays it. We don't see the world as it is. We see it as we are. But when a performer gets deep into a piece and lets the piece sing as it is, not just with his voice, then the performer has done something amazing and breathed life into an idea born in someone else's mind and brought into ours the clearest image of the best version of that image that we can experience. Thank you for this.

Think you need to spend more time expanding your vocabulary, and leave this type of music to us more able to express appreciation in a less gutter like expletives.
@eschelar
@eschelar 3 жыл бұрын
@@charlesmancat7666 I think you need to check your elitism there bud. I made a carefully worded and passionate description of my emotional response to Pablo's work. I am plenty capable of making long winded posts examining the minutiae of a particular performance, but this one made me respond more viscerally. And 71 people liked it including Pablo himself. So I don't *need* to do anything because of your personal subjective opinion. You would perhaps prefer if I didn't use an expletive. But that was the response I have because the music was just that good. It would be a real shame if a person never listened to a piece of music that was so powerful with a heart that could be filled with such beauty that it left no choice but to use an expletive - just as it would be a real shame if a person never experienced a moment of sexual arousal so powerful that it caused them to fuck like an animal in heat. So I guess nothing better to say than, "I believe good sir, you can kiss my ass". Do not hold back passion, for it is more fragile than you might think and if you choose to extinguish its fire, it is more beautiful than you can imagine.

@@eschelar Boy! again you prove my case for me, as is recorded elswhere where you obviously have never read "Out of their own mouth" I will say no more other than I have played with Pablo, have a nice day.
@eschelar
@eschelar 3 жыл бұрын
@@charlesmancat7666 Fascinating. You bring to me nothing more than two social arguments. First, a bullshit social positioning argument "You obviously have never read ". I don't need to have read a book that espouses a philosophy you have personally enjoyed and internalized. You can either make your argument in an intelligent way or you cannot. In this case, you cannot. I speak of passion and I speak with passion. Not only is this outside of your experience, it is outside of your ability to understand. Ironically, your second attempt to achieve social positioning is to say that you have played with Pablo. This is of course a non-argument. You cannot justify your opinion, so you play social games. Pathetic. Your mind may well be up to the task of playing an instrument, but your heart is closed. My argument stands regardless of whether I have Pablo's approval or not. Some things speak on a level of passion and emotion. Pablo has captured that expertly here and I have expressed it openly and freely. What is wrong with you that you would feel a need to shut that down? Are you so afraid of deep emotion that you feel it must be silenced? That's downright pitiable.

unfortunately, not true. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z168mniIl8l6qbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5DcqaeXmquoe7M Just one example of the different approach.... I'm afraid Dvorak would not agree with abandoning the laboriously constructed climax of the melody as if it were a piece of rag
@sweddishboi2739
@sweddishboi2739 Күн бұрын
@@rofo2107 music is partly in the mind of the author, and partly in the interpretation by the musician. Just because the creator does/would not agree with the musicians take on the piece does not make it any less spectacular, nor valid. That's part of what makes music so beautiful.

Oh wow! No words, simply amazing performance. I have always wondered what Dvorak thought when composing this wonderful ending, with the cello disappearing on that B note, and the orchestra triumphantly closing. Victory, happiness, freedom, the end of a difficult journey of life? Don't know if there is any answer... I guess it is up to the listener to imagine.
