Some of the Tamil people of India, worship the goddess of the earth 'pachaiamma', which means 'green mother'. Thatha in Tamil means 'grandfather'. Some interesting similarities.

Yes in Tamil nadu mostly in villages parents often keep name Pachaiamma to their girl child mostly family whose family deity is Pachaiamma definitely make sure to keep Pachaiamma. Pachaiamma is a green goddess. Tamil researchers also decode Madurai Meenakshi (green goddess) as Pachai amma. Madurai being ruled by Pandyas in ancient times who had control over Bay of Bengal (the sea) on one hand and vast land on other hand, So they kept name to Pachaiamma as Meenatchi (meen - fishe and atchi- rule ) commemorating their legacy to forthcoming generations that they ruled both land and sea together giving green colour to goddess and naming her as Meenatchi respectively. All green color goddess are Pachaiamma only as per researchers Also Lord murugan's wife Valli is Pachaiamma as murugan was first to invent agriculture. Lord Shiva's wife is also green in color as Parvati is also known as Prakruti (nature) Thirunals wife Bhoodevi is also Pachaiamma as Bhoo means Earth. Andal from Shrivilliputhur Tamilnadu is also valli only green goddess. Till now a Garland from shrivilliputhur goes to tirupat as Tirupati is not perumal but Lord murugan.
