Absolutely!!! Exceptional talent, very little show -- a true artist! Very honest in her music as well. Once she moved on from her early pop star years, she is as real as it gets. No singer/songwriter has ever come close to affecting me the way she does. She has surpassed the Beatles as my favorite musician, and I never thought that would happen. EDIT: She does have some show, but her fame and success are based totally on her talent and genius.

I'm pretty sure people were saying the same thing about various artists from the very beginning. My step-grandfather was a jazz musician and taught music in public school for 30 years. 20-some-odd years ago we were complaining about the lack of good musicians "these days" and I was surprised to hear him say it all started with the Beatles, they destroyed music as we know it today.

She wrote these lyrics because they are about the sexual abuse she suffered as a child. A sexual relationship was allowed and encouraged between a 14 yr old Alanis and a 30 something yr old man. These aren't just lyrics, these words are her pain, betrayal, torment and violation.

@@pishwaWell, sadly the worst is mk ultra 'music' that began on a mass scale around 2000. It's a psyop and weapon actually, that demoralizes and causes young people forget who they are. (Beautiful human beings.) Bad for ears, the eyes and the heart. Young people were forced or peer pressured into listening to so much mainstream garbage, fake music for the past 20 + years. But tbh I saw it begin in the early - mid 80's, so many were bullied into 'liking' gangster rap. There was a lot of ridiculing going on if they were enjoying real music or uplifting music. (That's how music always was prior to 'that. I saw it going on in my hs, in a neighboring city to Oakland, Calif.
