It’s a very peaceful city, full of History, there is dry weather almost the year but in less than 15 minutes there a climate forest, small lakes, big trees, that always had took my mind away: a semi deserted place near a forest full of live, even there a town called Real del Monte that you may interested on look forward it

It is cool that you venture in Las palmitas even if they told u it wasn't a safe neighborhood but i would advice you to never do that during twilight or night, listen to my mexican compatriots, if they say is not safe, is not to scare you away, is because it is :) glad you didn't have anymore unpleasant situations but a perro de barrio chasing you lol

Personally I think it's a good alternative to Mexico City. It's 2 hours away and does not feel crowded. The main square is very beautiful with lots of shops and restaurants. To the North you have beautiful national parks and I felt very safe walking around the city and on the outskirts at night! Again, I was only sightseeing so I can't be a great resource for how life is there on day-to-day basis but it is a stunning city, in my opinion!
