I'll start the JMT at the 26th June at Cottonwood Lakes and currently thinking if we would then be able to cross that river. Still Looking for those who made it savely across or show a current video of the river flow.

Great team work. That rocky top by the lake looks like a baby Matterhorn.

Painted Lady .. I tried climbing it in 1973, but the last bit was too technical to risk way out there. Beautiful videos, thanks!

I know this video is lagged, but any future hikers might consider exiting Lamark col down to N lake From there you just hoof it back over Piute, same as the bishop exit strategy Bishop via Dusy is awesome, but some might prefer the iconic Muir hut Either way is fine to connect the PCT thru

Forgot to add you guys are monsters Mere mortals would have taken 2 days by first hiking to the base of Glen rather than start after midnight to do 2 passes Yikes!

It's been decades since I used an ice axe so take this with a grain of salt but unlike Turtle, I would use the other end of the ice axe to slow and steer my decent, still holding it ready for self arrest. It would be easier to keep sliding but you can roll on to your belly and self arrest at any time if necessary.

Sure sounds like the broken bridge was 100% safer than removing it! Maybe they're actively working on it, but I know people shimmied across it safely last year. If they don't actually close that section, obviously some people will try.

I guess the Forestry Service is responsible for keeping the trail safe for adventurers. If someone gets hurt on a broken bridge, I believe they can be held liable. So they just destroyed the broken bridge.
