the clouds at 4mins. or so, looked a lot like Lenticular Clouds.

Enjoying hiking along with you! Yosemite is a national park, not a national forest, so you can thank the National Park Service for that nice bridge!
@danhertz66957 ай бұрын
The bridge at 6:03 marks the cutoff for fires (when they are allowed) And if you have a keen eye you will notice where the trail used to be. It was moved due to the impact it was having on the meadow. Props to the trail and restoration crews that made it.

My husband and I are sure enjoying watching your journey. We love your format, the quality, and the daily sign off. Great job. You make me wish we were young again. Keep on going. 💪🏻💕

Awww... you started too early to see the sunrise on Banner Peak 😞. Cloud cover looks like it would have muted it, anyway 😛 @ 4:22 That's just Lyell Canyon 🙂 Tuolumne Meadow is about 12 miles from where you're standing... around a couple corners of the canyon ;-) I'm not sure if the park service still honors it, but they used to allow PCT permit holders to take the JMT down to the valley. Seems it would have been a nicer option than the road walk 🙂

Did Donahue Pass in 2017-record snow year(until 2023). I sympathize. But you guys are beasts! Hope to run into you on trail, Turtle.

Sorry you missed the fact you could have taken the JMT down into the Valley and seen Cathedral Lake, one of the best spots on the JMT.

Born and raised in California, and frequent Yosemite and Mammoth regularly, I want to thank you for showing us what we don’t see on our trips. I’ve driven Tioga Pass through Tuolumne Meadows , but that’s it. Just beautiful!

Say what? You frequent Yosemite and have never spent time in the Tuolumne? Next thing you're gonna say is "I've only been in the backcountry once when i was a kid" Get up there

You guys are troopers! Taking a rather long side trip down into Yosemite Valley and taking it all in stride. Beautiful scenes along the way. Most people would be too exhausted. The unusual cloud formations are known as the "Sierra wave."

Dan, short answer: yes. I know you're wondering if there is fish in the creeks and surrounding lakes. You guys will have to come back. There are people who pack out for 1, 2, 3, 4 week off trail x-country traveling throughout Yosemite & Mammoth. The SHR comes out behind Ritter @ TI , then stays under the Minarets. Certain parts you won't see anyone for days.

So surreal to see Tioga Road completely deserted! I hope you were able to get into Ahwahne (Yosemite Valley) for a couple of days, and then hitch back up when the road opened the other day.

There's a much nicer off-trail route with better views than Island Pass from 1000 Island Lake that takes you to Lower Davis Lake. I really don't understand why they routed the trail the way they did. You guys ought to come back in the summer when the Sierra is more beautiful and much easier to travel through. And, you can fish for Golden, Rainbow, and Lahontan Cut Throat (if you know where to go) Trout. You are absolutely right that you want to go through the Sierra while there is still good snow cover and it's refreezing at night or after most of it has melted. In between is not a good time to travel.
