Harvesting rocks for the Pennsylvania Appalachian Trail was absolutely hilarious! Just an observation; It's got to be hard to be under a microscope on social media when people are telling you to "tap out your shoes". Etc etc. It's so easy to tell other people what to do when they're sitting in their iving room watching the video. I try not to do that. You're doing a great job out there!

About your sandy shoes in the tent. Made snag up a Walmart bag to keep with you to put your shoes in. That way, the sand will stay inside the bag and not your tent. Your pace is about 20 minutes and 41 seconds per mile. Crazy!!! That was a cool train shot.

Man.....I thought the trail was beautiful but this video shows imo the scale and size of everything really well. I can't thank you enough for taking us on this journey with you. I've had my own tent and my own sleeping bag and gear for a while now and I've wanted to go camping on my own but I've been nervous about it. Watching these videos gives me courage though. Just gotta start small and then before you know it, I can start my own thru hike eventually!

I live in Kentucky and backpacking out west absolutely is another world. I love it and watching these videos has me excited to get back out west this summer. The first hike back at home always feels less impressive, but I quickly settle back into just being happy to be in the woods anywhere. Thanks for bringing us on this hike with you!

One thing I learned is carrying extra water is so taxing. It is so heavy it is unbelievable how it impacts the body on a hike with extra weight. Your in beast mode now though! Keep up the great work and staying safe!

Yeah, the first time I tried the LMNT drink I was surprised by how salty it was (of course, I didn't realize that it would be salty at all so it was completely unexpected for me). I usually will only put half a pack in my bottle at a time. But, you are right, it does work!

It’s true east vs west coast hiking. After the AZT, PCT, and CDT, I just can’t hike most trails on the east coast anymore. They are comparatively boring and depressing. Wait until the Sierra and Cascades buddy. And definitely do Mount Whitney, I was so glad I did.

LMNT can be diluted to 16 to 32 ounce and it still works great sometimes it needs shaking up towards the last half the salt settles . I have buckets of it for hiking and work days in the heat here at home Mio is nothing good.

Question? At the water cash, when you fill your bottles, do you distinguish between dirty and clean? Do you drink the cashed water through a filter for the dirty water bottle and straight for the clean, or do you not have “clean” smart bottles and just risk that any leftover contamination is going to be low risk? Hope this makes sense! Enjoying your vids and love the laughter and joy recognizing the difference between the Coasts. I’m still big on our coast, less condensation in a Hammock!! 😆
@potatothorn
@potatothorn Ай бұрын
comedy after totally misreading your question and trying to reply / i got it/ haha// I'm at the water cache at hwy 58 frequently so i was thinking in reverse, that the water is generally clean and doesnt need filtering but Doh that's not what you're asking at all.... i want to hear his answer but what i suspect is all those smartwater bottles are "dirty", it looks like all his bottles are full and they are all intended to be connected to the sawyer. so probably he fills his water bladder for drinking and cook pot etc all thru the sawyer. what we did not see was did he fill the bladder with the hose he drinks from with water from the cache directly or filter it first.. typically not necessary but with that "do not crush bottles" note i think these are refilled from a tap so maybe they are filtered maybe not, probably worth filtering just for the taste if nothing else....
@gboltonatrail1099
@gboltonatrail1099 Ай бұрын
@@potatothorn Thanks for replying… That is the question I am asking… A better way to ask it would be does Frozen or others, “Fill the CNOC Dirty Bag with clean water from a Cache and Not filter it? Or do they always filter water from a “dirty” bottle even if the water is definitely Potable/Clean?”.
