A relative was staying in Pacific Palisades and I visited for a couple days. It was truly beautiful. We walked a few blocks to the center of town and picked up coffee and a newspaper, then sat in the square for awhile, drinking our coffee, enjoying the sunshine, the people, the birds. The houses close to the town center were 1930's type cottages, white clapboard, picket fences, roses climbing the fences. Paradise. I am truly sorry for all who lived there. You lost a piece of heaven, truly. God be with you all.

All I can say is, thank you for this video. My aunt lived on Porto Marina Way and lost her home last Tuesday. She purchased the house in 1986, and I was blessed enough to be able to visit her and this glorious area every year. While at her home, I woke quite early every morning so that I could walk/hike(!) the Castellammare area before the sounds of everyday life began (e.g. yard maintenance and construction crews, garbage pickup, etc.) I loved that I could hear the ocean waves and PCH traffic until a certain point on Tramonto, when the sound of the ocean and traffic turned to the sound of singing birds. And even though I did not live in the neighborhood, I rarely received any suspicious "Who are you?" looks. In fact, I've enjoyed numerous conversations with a number of residents over the years. So many stories...so many happy memories. My heart aches for all impacted.

I have friends in LA. One friend has had to evacuate. But I hear myself saying out loud over and over, "This can't be real, this just can't be real." Chicagoan here and my heart truly aches for everyone who lost, not only their home, but their beautiful neighborhood, their normalcy and their sense of well being. Our city is beautiful and with gorgeous lake Michigan and all the beaches that we have, as well as gorgeous neighborhoods like this one was, we could rival any coastal community. It is just such a punch to the stomach to see it all gone. My prayer group and I have been sending love, hope and prayers to all who are sadly involved in this disaster. I have seen videos of the community coming together to help one another and that is beautiful to see, and perhaps the only good thing that may come from this heart wrenching disaster will be the sense of community that everyone is feeling right now. This did not happen only to that neighborhood or to Californians, this happened to brothers and sisters of the human race! Rich, poor, young, old, black, white and everything in between! The devastation is so enormous that I'm not sure how long it will take them to rebuild and will it be rebuilt in the exact same way? Probably not, but let's keep praying for them, and for the incredible and hard work that first responders are doing. They are the true heroes in all disasters as they work tirelessly and with little sleep and food to keep trying to put those fires out. LET'S PRAY FOR TORRENTIAL RAIN PLEASE! WE CAN DO IT! FOCUS ON IT WITH ME. Sending everyone so much love, hope, acceptance and resilience during this difficult time. May God hold you in the palm of his hand! 💖💖💖

SRF Lake Shrine: All of the legacy structures around the perimeter of the Lake are indeed intact. In addition, we now have confirmation that the Lake Shrine Temple and Retreat buildings are completely undamaged. With regard to the meditation gardens surrounding the Lake, there has been no major loss to the beautiful landscaping. One large tree has been lost, but otherwise only minor damage to some small vegetation was sustained. And we can happily report that the swans and fish that reside at the lake are safe as well.

Lived there a yr in mid 80s, it was Gods country beautiful. Some spots in LA had trash on the streets but not this area it was something else, good memories of it. I rode the whole length of Sunset from Dodgers Stadium to the ocean. Ill never forget that day.

I have been to SF and San Diego, but never the Los Angeles area, and have only seen pictures of various places. Watching these homes being now completely destroyed by fires give a sense as if the homes were souls that were all lost together because of the people's tangible and intangible memories that perished with their houses. while some of the homes can be rebuilt and so as people's lives, the memories are the most precious possessions that will never be recovered. Watching this from the otherside of the Pacific Ocean (New Zealand), I cannot believe the level of destruction this area has recently faced, it's chilling to know close to, if not every house/structure seen in this video has been reduced to ashes. Truly devastating.

thank you for posting this video, as I have never been to Pacific Palisades. Such a beautiful city, brought me to tears to see the devastation. The residential streets are very narrow and homes close to each other, you can now see how quickly the fire spread. The housing seems very diverse, as some are mansions and others are average homes. I wish we could have seen more residential homes, as opposed to main streets, but still a wonderful video.

LA was so beautiful I just can't believe the fire destroyed the city houses schools and businesses! I hope it will be beautiful again once after being rebuilt it will come back stronger like it never was before I'm just still praying for everybody in LA wish ya'll will be safe out there!!!

Amazing to read how people all over the world feel our loss. Thank you! I haven’t been able to sleep since last Tuesday, January 7 at 10 am when our beautiful city was hit by fires all over. I can’t get over it. I ask people who set fires, arsonists to stop and think of the destruction and devastation they can cause, before setting a fire, please get help. So far they have arrested three people, actually setting fires. So unfair. I’m hurting for our city, it’s going to take so much work to build what was already built! Not fair. 💔🙏❤️

There are many places here in Cali that are just like PP or even better, we are a beautiful state. and We have fires every 5 or 10 years. Santa Ana winds are fierce, plus we haven't had any rain.

It is so stunningly beautiful there but also what you don't get from the video is how perfect the weather is every single day. When you hear it's hot in California it's inland. On the coast, the Pacific is a natural air conditioner because it's cold so it's 60's & 70's almost all the time with no humidity. I'm in Florida now but cannot wait to get back there.
