Marshall Stacker Pentecost was a pilot in the Mk I Jaeger Program at the beginning of the invasion, in a machine called Coyote Tango. The Mk I's had insufficient radiation shielding for their pilots at the time, and during the battle with Onibaba (the big kaiju chasing little Mako), his co-pilot blacked out from the radiation, leaving him to pilot and defeat the monster alone, which he did, the first time anyone had ever done that. Afterwards both pilots were retired due to their conditions, which is why he says that if he gets in another Jaeger, the strain on his weakened system will be too great and it'll kill him. The kaiju's creators DID learn something from Newton when he drifted with the brain. That's where they got the ideas for Leatherback (the big gorilla thing with the EMP) and Otachi (the acid spitting flyer), both having attributes that their creators had not used before, as they got them from Newt's knowledge of Earth animals and how Jaegers functioned.

The first three or four Mark 1 Jaegers built didn't have radiation shielding for the pilots. There were seven built Mark 1 Jaegers. Cherno Alpha was among the last three in the class to have radiation shielding.

There were 30 jaegers and most of them got destroyed especially the mark 1 to mark 3 robots alot of robots and pilots died because there were 13 kaiju attacks on 2024 6 robots were lost and they want to junk gipsy danger because of all mark 3 pilots are dead that's why Raleigh Becket got an offer to pilot gipsy again every since the attack of 2024 only 4 robots are left and 6 were lost by that time the government lost faith to humanity since kaiju are dominating jaegers and want to put there budget on building the anti Kaiju wall but people protested to still support it as it is the only faith of humanity

Pacific rim is honestly the best film out there amongst this genre like seriously. Kaiju , sci fi , monster verse , robots action .....what more do you want . I remember people had mixed emotions about this when it was released but in like few weeks of time as more people like me watched it , the fan base bloomed significantly . This is probably the best ever movies out there with the concept and it's application with a great storyline.

As a martial artist, I admit--the one on one trials scene is the main reason I continue to come back to this movie. The constant back and forth sparring is a perfect way to determine how good your partner/opponent is and what each need to do to get better.

It's a fun movie, and when I saw it the first time, the theater had a really good sound system. Idris Elba played Stacker Pentecost, and he also played Heimdall in the MCU. There is a sequel to this movie, but I found it relatively forgettable.

In my country Mexico we are proud because this film is directed by the Mexican Guillermo del Toro and he also wrote it, he has directed excellent science fiction films and also horror films, which are his favorite genres. For future reactions I recommend you watch his movies: Blade 2 (2002), Cronos (1993), Pan's Labyrinth (2006), Hellboy (2004) and Mimic (1997) and his vampire series called The Strain (2014) and If you like the Scy Fy genre with giant monsters you should see the classic Starship Troopers (1997) directed by Paul Verhoeven, you will love it.😉👍

I think Optimus would be below the knees of these robots. The 2011 film "Limitless" is, I think, one of the best and most original of the last 15 years. I highly recommend it. You will not regret.

Guillermo Del Toro makes movies that stand the test of time technically. It isn't always the tools and computing power that make CGI look good, it's also the knowhow behind it. In Pacific Rim the scale is what sells the massive set pieces. The camera is looking at things like they are really big, and not just puppets on a miniature set. A lesson many modern movies often forget. Also darkness and rain makes everything look cooler.

Lovely Biss. Yes the white suit worn by the 2 brothers at the beginning kinda looks a little like Stormtroopers. As for the height of the Jaegers; Gipsy Danger is 260 feet, Striker Eureka & Crimson Typhoon are 250 feet, Cherno Alpha is 280 feet. In the pacific rim universe, there are a lot more jaegers but by the timeline of this film, most of them were destroyed bcoz the alien creators learn from each defeat how to beat the jaegers through the kaijus' hive mind, which the humans didn't know of course and thought the kaijus were just individual beasts, and they engineer new kaijus with certain ability or knowledge on how to fight back against specific jaegers. Example, Otachi's acid spitting is effective against slow jaegers like cherno alpha which is one of the slowest jaegers ever. Also Biss there's actually a credit scene, where Hannibal Chau the guy with the golden shoe is still alive, he climbed out of the baby kaiju and ask where is his shoe 🤣. CGI for this film was amazingly done, especially with all the coloring against the dark environment. Also love that they managed to make the jaegers look and act and move realistically instead of just running, fighting & jumping around like ninjas and completely defying physics laws. 1 realistic scene is where the jaeger striker eureka delivers the 1st punch to the kaiju in Sydney. Everytime I watch that scene, I can always feel the punches as if I'm one of the people standing on top of that building. This is one of my favorite monster films. There's also a sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018), though not as good as the first one, personally is still worth a watch.

The thing i liked about this is that even tho Hansen (the Striker Eureka pilot that was a brat) was clearly a bully and all that, he was'nt evil or anything, just very cocky, as we saw that in the first minute of Cherno and Crymson fighting he was already wanting to go help them even without the Marshall letting them go, like, idk i liked that character

The Big O is a great anime with this style of rock-em sock-em mecha, and it's animation style is similar to Batman: The Animated series, has a very film noir feel to it. HIGHLY recommend.

Little Mako stole the movie for me. A story we could all get behind. Losing her family and then trying to get into position to really fight back. I never understood the reluctance to send her in with that background baggage: as if Raliegh didn't have that? All of them did, for whole crews dying in the fighting, and whole cities destroyed.

Since you liked the Jaegers being slow and cumbersome (as they should), you will not like the "sequel". Because in that one, the Jaegers run/jump around like they're weightless... Therefore I do not recommend Pacific Rim: Uprising. Rayleigh doesn't appear in it and well, something happens to Mako but those of us who enjoyed the first film ignore the second film.
