This conversation really describes the nature of internet memes if you really think about it. • Gottlieb: In the beginning popular memes was spaced by twenty-four weeks, then twelve, then six, then every two weeks. The last one in Reddit, was a week. • Gottlieb: *[pointing to the predicted number from his equation]* In four days, we could be seeing the new memes every eight hours until they are coming every four minutes. We should witness a double event within seven days. • Newton: Why do we consider memes as unique? It’s because each one is completely different from the next, right? You see what I’m saying? One is image macro and one is image labelling. The point is, I don’t think they’re all completely different after all. Uh…here’s some samples I collected, alright? • Newton: *[taking out Swole Doge and Wow Doge meme sample]* Now this one here was thriving in Reddit. And this was first found in Tumblr, six years ago. They're made from the same image, they’re clones.

So Hermann said that Kaiju attacks were spaced six months apart, then three months, then a month and a half. So basically the time between attacks is cut in half. I have a few questions about that. 1) Why does the math on the board look so complicated? He's only dividing by two. A 4th grader could do that without any trouble. 2) The intervals of these attacks are weird. Raleigh says at the beginning of the movie that the first four Kaiju came through the breach every six months. But Hermann says the Kaiju come through in half the time it took the last. He also mentions that the spacing between a previous attack and Mutavore was a week. Then afterward, he says the time between Mutavore and Otachi/Leatherback would only be a week. So is there a number that also dictates how many Kaiju have to come through before the interval is cut in half again? 3) Where does he get any evidence that suggests there would be a double event? There were none before Otachi and Leatherback, and all he knows is that Kaiju will be coming more frequently. Now I have a question about Newt's research. 4) Newton compared the DNA between Mutavore and a Kaiju that attacked Manilla in 2019 and then he came to the conclusion that their clones. So you mean to tell me after 12 years of Kaiju attacks, employing hundreds of researchers, and then having your department reduced to two scientists, ONLY THEN do you compare DNA samples and realize all the Kaiju are cloned? Yeah, I know I'm nitpicking. But this is annoying me for some reason.
@anxiousearth680 Жыл бұрын
1) He didn't just present data on the rate of Kaiju attacks but also on possibility that increased Kaiju attacks would stabilise the interdimensional breach. The complicated math is likely tied to that.
@anxiousearth680 Жыл бұрын
4) Honestly it makes more sense that they aren't clones. DNA is a form of biological blueprint. An entirely different kaiju with different size and abilities can't have the same DNA. Unless the Kaiju are genetic chimeras? Which iirc, is rare among humans. That, one part of the body can have a different dna from another.
@perrenchan660010 ай бұрын
Super late to the party but I had this conversation with my friend who is a physicist. Its most likely the boards full of numbers is because hes having to factor in a bunch of variables that they dont know about. Hes making a lot of assumptions and seeing which variables cancel each other out in order to then come to the conclusion that not only will the space between attacks get shorter but the increased number of kaiju per attack comes in. Each variable he has to include will be written in an equation format. Hes most likely quoting other statistics and other equations from "real life" to fill in the gaps and come up with the prediction. Factors like the potential distance between two worlds, the hypothetical total number of kaijus in this other world based on the size and amount of food it takes to sustain a kaiju, does the weather have an effect, etc etc.
