Another great video. You have a knack for generating pertinent, understandable, and accurate information and presenting it is a highly understandable manner. I really enjoy your work. I also just watched your video from 2003 on the Schneider Home system with the Pulse, Inverter, Boost, X series modules and Home App (Wiser I think). As you recognize the details that Schneider had released back then were sparse. Now I understand that the Schneider Charge has been added and it can be set up to automatically charge an EV with unused PV power. And the Inverter can operate in backup, and probably other modes with automatic load control to make maximum use of the inverter's available output with available PV power, without overloading the inverter or the PV array. I think that would likely work so that you can make EV charging a priority or make grid sell a priority. Unfortunately, I can't find any details on this whole system. With the Wiser CTs on both the grid feed and the inverter feed to the Pulse panel that seems like a natural operation for the Wiser App. How about doing an updated report on the Schneider Home system and add in some details about how everything interconnects and the automatic load management capabilities?

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed the video and found the information helpful. It's awesome that yo've been diving into some of our older content too. Schneider Electric's system has come a long way since then! You're absolutely right about the exciting additions to the Schneider Home. We're already in the works to get an updated video together, and we're planning to cover all those new features, including the automatic load management and EV charging with unused PV power. We'll likely have more details after the RE+ Event in Anaheim, California, this September, so stay tuned! If you're in the area, RE+ is definitely worth checking out! It's going to be packed with the latest in renewable energy tech. Thanks again for your support, and keep an eye out for the update!

I hope that Solar Edge is still around in the next few years. The stock price is in the tank.
@dalerolph3 ай бұрын
I hear you on that! The stock price can be concerning, but SolarEdge continues to innovate with new products and services, like their home energy solutions. The market can be unpredictable, but hopefully, their continued focus on technology will keep them around for the long haul. Let’s keep an eye on their future developments!

@@dalerolph At this point, I have to just play the waiting game. I'd expect that it will take a few years to come anywhere close to its highs. My investment in SEDG is down quite a bit. Had I sold it a couple years ago, I'd have done very well. So much for buy and hold.

Is the Enphase system priced with only one 5P battery? If so, it would be useful to price it with 2 5P batteries to more closely match the others. Total of 10kWh. For some reason your Enphase quote suggests it is a (1) 10kWh battery. "1 x [ESP] IQBATTERY-5P-1P-NA 10kWh".

To give some context to the estimate, all three options were based on 19 of QCells 425 Watt Solar Panels (Q.Tron BLK M-G2+), and were designed for partial home backup. SolarEdge using 1 Home Hub Inverter, 19 S440 Power Optimizers, and 1 Home Battery (10kWh). Enphase using 1 IQ Combiner 5C, 19 micro inverters (IQ8PLUS), and 2 IQ 5P Batteries (10kWh). Powerwall using integrated inverter and battery (13.5kWh).

Can you explain round trip efficiency?
@dalerolph4 ай бұрын
@@chancestreetman8314 Round trip efficiency in a solar battery system is a measure of how much energy you get back from the battery compared to how much you put in. For example, if you put 100 kWh of energy into the battery, and when you take it out, you get 90 kWh, the round trip efficiency is 90%. This efficiency accounts for energy losses that happen during charging and discharging. We’ll be sure to cover this topic in more detail in a future video!

Why not add Tigo optimizers to the PW3 system? Thats not even $50 per optimizer and you would gain per panel monitoring and control? Would this work?
@dalerolph4 ай бұрын
@@Tom-hb1no I’m not sure if you could do that, you would need to confirm with the Powerwall team first to ensure there won’t be any issues.
@PaulGilbert-n6e2 ай бұрын
Tesla already has MCI (Mid-circuit interrupter) units that you can install in your solar array making it code compliant in the US. If you have a good designer, and no shade issues, you really don't need optimizers or micro-inverters.

What are your thoughts on a solar edge solar system and adding a power wall 3 to it for backup? I’m trying to wrap my head around how it gets integrated.
@dalerolph3 ай бұрын
@@sethwashburn3356 If you’re working with an existing SolarEdge system, integrating a Powerwall 3 would likely be AC-coupled. This means that your solar energy would flow through the inverter and be converted to AC before being stored in the Powerwall. While this setup works well, you also have alternative options worth exploring. SolarEdge has an upgrade program for existing customers, which might be a good opportunity to switch to a fully integrated solution. If you’re getting a new system, it’s important to decide early on between the Powerwall 3 (which doesn’t offer module-level monitoring) and a SolarEdge Home system, which comes with module optimizers. The SolarEdge system allows for more detailed performance tracking and can be more efficient, especially in shaded environments. Both options have their benefits, so it really depends on your priorities: seamless Tesla integration with backup or optimized solar production with detailed monitoring.
@sethwashburn33563 ай бұрын
Ok. That makes sense. That’s kind of the way I was thinking. So adding the PW3 would be a triple conversion. So efficiency and optimization, it makes sense to keep with solaredge and just upgrade the inverter to the home hub and add the battery. I appreciate the help. Love the videos and content/info.
