From travel nurse to travel nurse, pack as little as possible. Only the necessities like scrubs and toiletries

Gurllllll!! You’re in Miami and I’m in Boca on my 3rd travel assignment. I have 2 suitcases as well. I did a pretty good packing job this time but I did end up spending 40.00 @ dollar tree for a few supplies, snacks, condiments…stuff like that 🤷🏽♀️

Hey hun! Could you elaborate on your reasons for taking short contracts?
@nursequeen20843 жыл бұрын
It’s give me a peace of mind. I have the power to extend if I want. If I chose to take a quick break I can. Also I’ve came to realize I love experiencing new things and places so switching assignments every 4 weeks “by choice” is ideal!

So what if you have a house already can you still be a travel nurse
@nursequeen20842 жыл бұрын
Yes you’ll just have to duplicate expenses. But you get a housing stipend you can use towards airbnb like homes or hotels.

Hey! I’m a current high school student and I’m interested in this career path. I was wondering, do you think it’s possible to be employed at a hospital as a paediatric/operating room (specialty i want to get into) nurse, BUT still be able to at least pick up a few contracts as a travel nurse (even just one)? I love the idea of travel nursing but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do it as a full time job because I don’t think I’ll be able to be away from family for such a long period of time.
@swazeyq3 жыл бұрын
Short answer: It's possible. Things to ask yourself: are you going to want to be an IP OR nurse, OP OR nurse, registry OR nurse who plans to pick up local travel contracts, or do full-time travel contracts & pick up at the location of your contract? Sometimes it pays more to just pick up extra shifts with the hospital you sign with but I wouldn't recommend that if you're the type of person that likes a change of environment for extra shifts. For example, I was a full-time IP nurse but did registry shifts with OP surgical centers. The pace was still fast but the work was much more mindless, compared to ICU. The other option is just sticking to doing registry at OP surgical centers as an OR nurse & doing local travel contracts as an IP OR nurse. Definitely need to get at least 1-2 yrs experience before doing travel or registry though. Hope that helped.

wow thank you so much for your response @swazey !!! but yes it's possible you just have to have great time management and organization! It'll be hard but well worth it!!
@nursequeen20843 жыл бұрын
also you'll have to get experience first as a peds / OR nurse before you can start travel nursing! Then you can start! Also there are local contracts!!! You don't have to go 50 miles away. the only setback is all your money will be taxed but it'll def be more than staff nursing

I work PRN at my hospital and I’m doing a contract now that’s an hour away. I block my schedule and work 3 days in a row, and then I’m home with my family! :)
