I think there should have been some mention of pre made formula for Mums who aren’t going to breastfeed. Some hospitals do not supply formula so checking if your hospital does or doesn’t is handy so you know whether to take some or not. I think in this day and age we need to be open minded and accepting of Mums who don’t want to or can’t breastfeed.

Hi Em, yes you're right. We cut it to save time and we shouldn't have. Fed is best.

Found this really handy as I lost my list from the first time around and just needed a reminder. I know to some it may seem a bit excessive but labour is pretty unpredictable it's best to be as prepared as possible so your birthing partner doesn't have to constantly leave you. I was induced my first time around and everything came in handy as I had to stay a few days and was well happy we had everything we needed. Also I definitely recommend ready made formula just in case (the hospital actually provide sterilised bottles perfect for new-born's) along with the sleep suits that have the mittens and booties (all in ones) they are perfect trust me instead of faffing around with dethatched mittens, socks or booties. The dress after labour was perfect as I tore slightly and was so glad I didn't have to bother putting trousers on lol. It was also great before labour just walking around the ward (I had a knee length black loose fitting dress) but also when the nurses had to keep checking your down there parts it made it much easier than having to remove loose fitting bottoms etc... but everyone's different.

it feels a bit excessive considering that in the UK hospitals only keep you in for about 6 to 12hrs after giving natural birth.

We decided to go with all the possible things you might want to consider. Probably best not to take it all!

Katrin Dvir if it’s your first birth they’ll most likely keep you in hospital overnight, but also labour is so unpredictable so it could be that you have an emergency c-section etc, or god forbid baby needs to stay in hospital a while so it’s just good to be prepared xx

Labour is not straight forward. Not everyone has a natural birth. All things considered.

Not really, I packed like this my first time around and I'm well glad I did because I ended up being induced and having to stay a few days - it's better to be over prepared than not and I'm packing like this again second time around as you never know.

Thankyou, this gives me a much better idea of what to take, about to pack my bag now at 32 weeks. Also if you're doing hypnobirthing, my midwife has recommended I bring in nice scents like pillow sprays to calm me, aromatherapy oils and battery candles to make it less of a scary hospital room.

I dont think any babies need a bath when they first born. Their umbilical cord is still fresh/raw. Babies get their first real bath when their cord falls off. I just learn that today.

Does the hosital provides you with anything? In other countries the hospital give you a "basket" with things for the baby once you give birth, which reduces the things in your baby bag. They also give you towels if you want to shower and definitely hot meals.

I've stayed in hospital for 1 week with my first and 4 days with my 2nd because I hemorrhaged with both. I didn't bring nearly this much stuff and still barely used what I did bring. 😂 I took a big bag-for-life bag full of snacks with my 2nd though. That I used all of. 🤔 Other than that, I fit all my stuff (And I have to pack 2 sizes of clothes for my kids because my 17m old is still in size 6-9m clothes - My kids are always tiny) and baby bits into one overnight style bag. 🤦‍♀️ I don't understand how people pack so much!

So what did you wear for 7 days?
@staceyhunt6769
@staceyhunt6769 3 ай бұрын
@apebass2215 Mix of hospital gowns, night dress and jersey fabric pyjama robe thing. And the clothes I arrive in as they aren't on long, typically and I'll personally prefer to get fresh, comfy, easy clothes on as part of my go-to-hospital check-list for that reason. You really don't need much at all. For what it's worth, I'm now on baby #4, and I will be bringing very very little.

Formula in case breast feeding doesn’t work out or you don’t want to (ready made - our hospital has no facilities for making up powdered formula), baby vests, a water bottle or peri bottle to spray “down there” when you take your first wee after, toiletries for showering, etc., lip balm (they get so dry!), eye mask and ear plugs in case you need to stay on a bright noisy ward, something to cool you down in labour - a flannel, hand held fan or cool spray.

Theres actually no law in place in the UK that prevents you from taking your baby home without a car seat. It’s hospital policy in select places, but not illegal. Baring in mind not everyone drives. so that’s false info.

99% of people take a car home from the hospital... no one is saying you must take everything in this video by law, use your common sense 🙄

I'm pretty sure could be wrong but even if you don't drive you still need a car seat which is ridiculous makes no sense at all exspecially when recovering having to carry a cat seat rather then pushing a pram I really don't understand why if you don't drive

@@cloudedcolour5329 oh I know that but I mean more if you’re getting a bus or walking like if I lived close enough I would of walked home from the hospital like I think even if you use the car seat once it’s worth the money to keep your child safe but if you’re not even gonna use it that once and you can prove you’re walking home or getting the bus like they see you get on the bus or you’ve to give/show them the bus ticket afterwards not sure how you’d prove you’re walking though but if you can prove you don’t need a car seat then why not allow them to leave with a pram as I wreaking it’s actually safer for the baby to be in a pram on the bus then a car seat as theres no seat belts well a lot of the buses I’ve been on over here don’t have seat belts so unless you have a car seat that will clip into the pram which no everyone could afford it can be really frustrating and inconvenient
@cloudedcolour5329
@cloudedcolour5329 4 жыл бұрын
@@pixiesanchez9195 for me I actually borrowed my sister in laws carseat (my nephew and daughter are 6 months apart) but I think in reality something like the doona would be a good option, you can use the wheels so you're not carrying, but you'd be dealing with the bags, doona, baby and public transport (bus) so you'd probably be better in a taxi

Mannn, you really don't need all this in your bag. If you have an natural birth, you're pretty much in and out in less than 24 hours. You'll just come home unpacking all that you didn't use.
