Helpful vid! Also like that you showed "shopping" in your own house! Not everything needs to be bought to make a nice pack. Great gear picks!

I started making a SHTF bag too. I use a passport wallet to hold important documents. It’s flat, zips closed & I can wear it around my neck. So in case I need to leave the bag, I have the most important items in there. Within the wallet, the documents are in ziplock bags to protect them from moisture. There’s also space for a pen, cards cash & coins. Best $10.00 investment ever! Also, if you have expired or outdated photo IDs, DO NOT DESTROY THEM!!! They can still be used for identification in many situations. I keep those in the passport wallet. This will be especially useful for minors that have school IDs but are too young for state IDs.

btw link or name of the wearable passport wallet? I'm sure I'm not the only wanting to know

Have a printed checklist. This is handy when you do your monthly checklist. I recommend zip ties be added to your list along with easy to wear clothes. A hat. Scarf. A jacket that is orange/red with reflective material on one side and dark brown on the other side. Most important is to pick a location to head in case of fire, flood, or earthquake. Wrap gear unpowered in emp proof bag along with your emergency radio. Most valuable is to practice using the gear including the your fire

You will need some dog food, medications, and a meeting place in case you are not together. Also, a person that is out of your area that you check in so they know you are safe and no one will worry and no extra resource/time be spent looking for you.

Great video! Thank you so much for putting this together. I also started making an evac bag, and I would add an AM/FM radio with NOAA capabilities. There’s options on Amazon that run on batteries, hand crank, and solar power. For any socal people, Major’s Surplus and Survival in Gardena has a lot of great stuff for packing your evac bag, and I got a lot of supplies you listed at that store.

Thanks for sharing this! would add a strong light. Battery operated radio. And a change of clothes. Also, things for pets - their dry food, some wet food they really love, a collapsable pet bowl for water, their meds and passports.

I recommend getting these paper soaps. Half of one is enough to wash your hands. I would say a foldable jacket too and sunscreen.

My small solar power banks have usb, c, flashlight, compass, sos flasher on a carabiner. I also have small binoculars, disposable rain jacket, emergency radio, protein bars, dark plastic shower curtain, twine, canned pet food, nylon grocery bags to carry the cats, light weight jacket/pants/socks.

I'm gonna have to pick a few more things, thanks!

Val, can you share more about nylon grocery bags to carry the cats. Because that is something I am worried about, how to pack and carry all your pets in the case of emergency.
@Ray-pt5bi7 күн бұрын
@@tajat866 I don't kk ow about nylon grocery bags, but we have a cat-carrier backpack. It's pretty light and not that bulky
@candykitty16 күн бұрын
@@tajat866I don't know about the nylon grocery bag too but I'll use a cat backpack. Problem is you can't carry both cat backpack and the holy shit bag at the same time. So have to utilize the cat backpack to put stuff in it. If you have more than 1 cat, maybe a pet stroller with your holy shit bag?

I have 5 ready to go for my family. Each back pack has the exact items. I camp a lot, so I am familiar off grid and primitive camping. Get familiar with your gear by actually using it. Also, know how to camp. It will prepare you.

We have two small kids, the thought of packing this bag paralyzes me. One of us would have to carry the baby, so only one could carry a backpack. The amount of things we could take would be very limited. My first instinct would be to take the bike trailer. It's not reclinable or packable but would help carrying stuff and can handle offroad. I feel whatever we plan for, life would hit us from another side. Anyone else got that feeling?
Thank you so much! Will you do one on your emergency one too? :)
