How do you pack multiple items? like a bowl, a mug and mini planter> Would each be in it's own box inside a larger box?

Thanks for redoing this video, very helpful. I just received one of your packages yesterday and it looked like they stomped on the box, even the interal box was damaged, but your pots were safe. Thanks for the careful shipping. Love my new pieces.

This really shows how much care goes into those pots, even during the packing.

Great video. I double box also but use bubble wrap and brown packing paper scavenged from work. I've been on etsy for 3 months with 8 sales. It's a thrill to make a sale knowing someone from so far away appreciates a pot I had created. I sold a planter last night to a lady in New York, I'm from Indiana so that was really cool and amazing if you think about it. Like you Matt I spent about 12 years making pots for area potters in the 80's

I use Mayco Designer liner and write a number on the bottom before glazing. When I glaze a piece I write that number down on paper and take notes on what glaze I used so I can reference it later. Helps me to remember glaze combinations when I am experimenting with new techniques and color combos. Plus it helps me keep track of how many pots I have made in 4 years since I started. I also use Etsy. I take my photos, including the bottom of that number so the customer can see they are getting that exact pot they are purchasing in the photos. Works for me as long as I take good notes. :-)

You use foam vs. bubble wrap???? What's the difference because other videos recommend bubble wrap.

Thanks for the redo. I just shared the packing and shipping of a pot for the first time, scary but it made it, box in a box. Even scarier Etsy and the shipping labels and the postage part, thanks for making it look so easy. Some great help you have there, maybe next time you'll cover child labor laws. I thought your kiln was impressive, now that stack of boxes to ship out is really nice.

What would happen if a large package with more weight is loaded on top of this item when loading the cargo by the shipping agent?

thank you so much for the video! I have attempted to print my own labels from etsy multiple times now and each time i have done something wrong XD which package (box) option do you select when selecting that part of the shipping information? I use USPS priority flat rate medium cube boxes, but they only have small, medium and large USPS box options, so I wasnt sure which i should select. Thank you!

This was great. I did watch the other video, but this was so much easier to hear the thought process as you were going along. Thanks for the re-do. Great info! (And your helper was pretty honkin' cute!)

So when you make the listing you just estimate the weight, and when you go to print the label you just adjust the weight with the exact weight?

Thanks for taking the time to redo! This is really helpful. I truly appreciate the time you are taking to share your wisdom. I am curious why you do not mark the boxes Fragile? Would that help?

When I sell on Etsy I do charge more for my work to compensate for packaging materials, time and fees from Etsy.

This is really awesome. You are always SO organized in how you do things! Very impressive! Do you add a certain $ amount to the price of your mugs to include the expense associated with the packing materials? If so, how much do you add per mug?
@MatthewKellyPottery
@MatthewKellyPottery 4 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a set amount because it’s so hard to set a certain % or $ amount because different items sell at different price points in every venue. I just base it on on what I think it’s worth and what the market I’m selling in will bear. Sorry no direct answer to your question.

Thanks for the information. I haven't started at Sea. I've gone in there a few times and found it frustrating I've seen a number of complaints about the fees and frustrations with at Sea. Looks like everything is working well for you. I've sold a little through Facebook. I have a pet page on Facebook where I have sold a few pieces as a hobby Potter and donated the majority of it to shelters in people to help pay for pet vet bills. I've used the postal service website online.. I haven't had a lot to go out no more than one or two packages at a time. I didn't know what the scan form was for. Thanks for that explanation

I live in the country and can't run to town every time I make a sale. Now this may not work for some in cities (because of walking postal carriers) but where I live, which is 12 miles from town, I schedule a usps pick up from the website. www.usps.com The mail carrier will come to my door and pick my packages up free of charge. If I have a lot of packages, they send another carrier to come pick them up. Same if I am having a huge amount of packages delivered to me. Just to ensure I am on good terms with my carrier, at Christmas I package up a few homemade goodies and a mug, for my postal carrier and substitute carrier on weekends, as a thank you gift for all the extra mileage they have logged picking up my packages throughout the year.
