Thank you for the helpful video. We'll be on this cruise, too. If I see you, I'll say hi! =) This will be our third trip to Alaska. We really lucked out with the weather the first two times- no rain at all, so I'm kind of expecting rain this trip. And you're right, everyone needs a coat and hat for Glacier Bay day. At the time of this writing it's 33 degrees there. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

Be careful using laundry pods. Some of our clothes have been stained by them. Also, the pods are made of water soluble plastic that, unfortunately, doesn't always dissolve completely. We've wound up with sticky residue on our clothes afterward. I would take a clean sponge and seal it in a ziploc bag with a measured amount of liquid detergent (enough for whatever size load you're anticipating). Just throw the sponge in the washer with your laundry. If it's a fresh, new sponge it should hold up fine in a wash cycle. You can also buy laundry sheets but I would be wary because of my experience with the pods not dissolving completely.
@LetsGoTravelTips3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for telling us about the pods not dissolving. It's wonderful we can all help each other here. Thank you again!
@tomputnam41753 жыл бұрын
The sponge idea is a good one. My wife just uses a paper sheet that combines soap/dryer into one sheet. She just tosses the sheet into the washer with the clothes and then tosses the whole clothes/sheet into the dryer. That also produces a low suds level which helps reduce pollution of the water that the plastic pods produce. Tom
@emilynordt1538 ай бұрын
For pods you can pop the pod and squeeze detergent out into the machine. Of course this only works with self serve laundry

You could also treat your shoes with a waterproof spray. A dry cleaner can waterproof your windbreaker jacket.

Not sure if you have answered this yet, but do you know the model of the Vera Wang bag? Love the size and the different compartments but I am having a very hard time finding "that" bag. I'm hoping to take it on my 13 night Alaska cruise tour in September. Thank you for all your great advice. It's definitely helped me fine tune my packing list so I don't overpack.
@LetsGoTravelTips Жыл бұрын
Hi! It is the Vera Bradley Weekender bag. I hope you have a fabulous cruise! Let us know how it goes.
@sandramiller5490 Жыл бұрын
@@LetsGoTravelTips The bag is from Packing for Majestic Cruise 2021 What to Wear. It looks like a clutch than a duffle bag. It's big enough to hold your phone in one compartment, credit cards and bills in another and then a third compartment. It has a long strap and a clutch handle. Just perfect for port days. I wish we had a Vera Wang store close by but Amazon is usually my friend but I just can't find it under clutch or weekender. Sorry to bug you but I just love the clutch.

In Alaska waters, most or all the washing machines are not allowed to be used for environmental reasons. Some are allowed, cause I think that the grey water is treated more, but I am not sure. I am ellite and even I cant get my clothes back while in those waters.
