One thing I’ll suggest is Benadryl I was bitten by a spider in one of the villages. My leg swelled up and it was night time. Luckily the doctor was just leaving (only twice a week there in that village do they have a doctor ) and he gave me anti allergy med. so mosquito repellent and Benadryl or anti allergy meds.

Good advice! The anti-histamine in Benadryl can make you drowsy - when combined with melatonin, it helps to rest your sleep schedule and defeat jet lag. Also , I recommend bringing Nyquil/Dayquil. Croatia does not have an effective cold medication like it - and my husband and I tried them all. One more thing- Croatia has excellent medical care, should you need it. We saw a doctor twice during our month long stay. As foreigners, we had to pay, but it was not expensive. Both doctors and pharmacists speak excellent English.

For money change, The exchange offices in the very center of some cities have bad rates, but those just a few steps outside the center can have much better ones. The exchange offices in malls and supermarkets have really bad rates, and so do those in the offices buying gold. One can use Google Maps to locate exchange offices, and look at their rates if they have a web site. Yes, those smartphones can be used for other stuff than just Facebook or Instagram... And how to get smartphone connectivity for overseas visitors would also be an interesting topic, probably (roaming inside the EU is without additional charges). There is also a lot of free WiFi around in some areas.

Halo! My wife and I are planning a trip for early 2024, and we're doing some advanced work. One question had was about prescription medications. Both us have 3 or 4 regular meds. I'm assuming we need to bring our own, rather than trying to fill them in local pharmacies, but do you have any suggestions for how to handle these? I usually have 90-day supplies, but I wouldn't want to bring all of that for a 2-week trip. Do you still suggest we bring meds in the actual bottles, rather than in smaller pill cases?
@pattiannp22
@pattiannp22 Жыл бұрын
I can answer that… my husband is from Croatia n we go every year to his home and stay for 2 or 3 months . We have a lot of American prescriptions of which we do get 90 days supplies for but some we cannot, so it is very helpful to bring the actual bottle so if you need a refill (of which they always see to have the compatible med) the Dr can very easily see for one ‘your name’ and the ‘name of the Rx.’ My advice is to bring the actual bottle and have it in your carry on ON THE PLANE. We’ve actually had I stances where meds in our pill containers disintegrated (probably humidity) and needed to get more meds. Bring your bottle is my advice unless it’s over the counter type n you can get at a pharmacy easily.

if you are bringing prescription to Croatia, keep in mind you cannot, officially, bring any more than 30 day supply. that's the law in Croatia. It sucks if you intend to stay longer, because you will have to get a local doctor to write you a prescription. you will than have to pay that doctor, and you will have to pay for the prescription. also, if you are staying longer, make sure they have same medications there as they do at your home. diabetics beware when it comes to insulin. contact a pharmacy in Croatia via email or by phone to get more details. you can do Google search for them.😅

@@johnnemo4146 No, i don't know, but the law is there! Wife and I moved to Croatia a few years ago for over eight months. The law was still in effect then, and I knew about it. Still, I brought more than 30 day supply of medications with me, and I got through. But; like I said, the law is there, and the Immigration and Customs people can stop you, if they choose to. EU has it's own rules, and they are good, and work well. But those rules don't apply to you if you're coming from elsewhere like Canada or USA, and if you are not a EU member country citizen.

All you have to do is either carry the medicines in their original containers or get a note from the doctor or pharmacy stating which medicines you take.
