Ack! My 2nd child my husband's employer sent a snack basket full of fruit and cheese and crackers and all sorts of stuff in this beautiful wicker basket. I was confused at first, the first kid they just sent a plant? But, oh man. This is the ONLY hospital for like an hour in any direction, and whomever sent the basket must have birthed there because they gave no snacks at night and I LIVED off that basket! It was almost empty by the time we went home, I was so hungry!!!

For my hospital bag last year, I made sure to bring Girl Scout cookies! My husband and I made sure to give one whole box to our favorite postpartum nurse, who was also our previous postpartum nurse for our first daughters birth🥰😊❤

I wish I had packed snacks! My labor was super quick (less than 3 hours) but I starveddddd in that hospital. The portion sizes are so small, and sometimes I didn’t like what we had so I was literally so hungry! I made my husband go get fast food lol

My mil on The day I delivered went to family dollar and bought me and him two bags filled with snacks for the hospital and picked us up a pizza after I gave birth to my son. 😂❤ She definitely told us to keep a goody bag ready and we didn’t listen.

I highly recommend the sugar free Russel Stover candies. The pecan delights are the best. Bought them for my father in law and I ate one by mistake. It compares to candy with sugar

I think for my twins I didn’t bring anything and for my 3rd I brought like granola bars and a bag of chocolate covered almonds but couldn’t stomach either. My husband did pick up some Dunkin jugs of coffee & a few dozen assorted donuts.

Snacks!!! I just had baby #2 last month, and I am so glad I brought snacks because I delivered her at 9:50pm and hadn’t eaten all day / didn’t go to Mother-Baby until 2am, so the only thing they could offer me until I was able to order breakfast at 6am was an Uncrustable. I brought lots of beef jerky because I craved red meat & protein after losing so much blood during delivery!

I packed a snack bag when I had my second baby and once I was there and had the baby I found that I didn't want crunchy or nutty stuff that I packed and I would have rather had something soft. Not sure if I'm the only one that feels like a baby after birth😅

It depends on where you live it also depends on what your family's background if they're very very Southern or very you clean or very Russian or very Italian like my family is because we come from multiple backgrounds like we're one big Melting Pot you are no joke you are more likely to have lunch baskets hot coffee soup desserts probably everything unhealthy that you need in a hospital room with a new baby just being born but you know who cares everybody who knows everybody is probably friends with everybody in the hospital so they get away with it and I remember that we had so much food that they had to take us to a second room so we can put all the stuff because we had so much food hey when when there's horse races going on or if there's a new child being born or there's a festival or there's a get-together my family goes all big and bold like they will physically cook food for like a king and every other all the guys are sitting there playing chess or playing checkers or doing cards or or whatever that they're doing some of them go smoke all the women are preparing the cards the toys the gifts the food and all that and it's a big Southern tradition not only that it's very common in my family to have multiple foods for multiple countries

Did you plan to have an unmedicated birth? If I remember correctly, you can’t eat virtually anything once you have an epidural, spinal block, etc.

It’s hospital policy you can’t eat in case you need a c section but it’s extremely outdated information. Maternal asphyxiation doesn’t happen and they can’t even recreate the study that says women shouldn’t eat during labor. So a lot of nurses turn their heads to eating during labor. It’s not like they can stop you. It’s your delivery. An epidural on effects the bottom half of your body and wouldn’t keep you from eating at all.

It’s 2 days for natural labor & 3 days for c-section so not that big of a difference. At least where I live, I’ve had one of each. The portion sizes of the meals they provide aren’t that big. Postpartum hunger while breastfeeding especially is no joke ! I was even hungrier pp than I was pregnant 😅

Hah! I was in labor for 34 hours. I'm soooooo happy I packed food because "technically" since I started induction I couldn't eat until things were over. I just snuck food and when I got to the point of not feeling like eating I drank electrolyte drinks and protein shakes. Tbh I may have had to have a C section if I didn't bring food with me (4 hours of pushing😅)
