I just started watching your videos a few weeks ago. I am enjoying them (better yet, I am getting great ideas from them.) Watched your picking video from 2 years ago and your SKU video. Then I found this one. Tying it together---With SKU'ed books, my labels come out with that number on them. So I can print my labels, then as I find the books I put the labels in the book sticking out. In this video, you had a partial title on each label. Wouldn't the SKU work better? Your system is much improved from that picking one 2 years ago. Keep your videos coming. From ItsAGift

That Kiss Book was a Monster. Great to see your packing bench and shipping process working so well for you. I'm an everything style seller, but watching your videos this past couple weeks has encouraged me to get some boxes of books out of my own back stock and get them listed. Personally I love books, but over the years have sourced fewer and fewer, as the price for many has dropped here in the US, with big sellers like Amazon driving the price of common volumes so low. Back when I cleared estates and delinquent storage units, books needed to be processed as part of the larger process. Now, I look for books with a great return and usually pass the bulk book stacks on to my Son-in-law who is more of a nitch media seller.

Mel, save tons of time with your packing tape. Get an Excell ET-12270 Blue/Grey Premium Twin-Roll Steel Desk Top Dispenser or similar style depending on what you have in your country. It works just like a small tape dispenser but designed for packing tape. It will save you TONS of time and is more ergonomic for your hands. You can get dispensers than hold one packing roll, a packing roll and standard tape roll, and some are combos that have pencil holders for markers, scissors, pens etc. and it's heavy enough that it stays put on your work table so you can use it with one hand while holding your package in the other! Look into it, it will change your packing forever!

Tell me about it! I sell only one type of product but it comes in many different types, sizes, colours, finishes and weights. @jad29376 Жыл бұрын
Just a thought...I watched you pop a satchel at the end of 2 mailers as they didn't quite close. I was doing this also but then discovered the tough bags, small, medium & Large are all bigger than their padded equivalent. So books that you need a medium padded mailer for may fit a small tough bag/ books you need a large padded mailer may fit a medium. The bags are quite thick so not all will need bubble wrapping either but still works out cheaper if needed. Means less postage costs for you = more profit. 😊
@backfromburnout Жыл бұрын
Yes the only problem with those is I have to manually choose “My own packaging” and then I have to weigh and measure them. The padded mailers are flat rate by size. So I squeeze as much as I can in!

Great video and I love how fast you work! All of those orders out in 35 minutes! Of course, this is not showing All the time spent in shipping your orders out each day. There’s the pulling of the items from your inventory, the printing of the labels and as you noted, and marking some type of abbreviation on the reference section of every label to make sure you are placing the correct label on each package. That’s the part I would fear, that somehow the books would be out of order from the labels and I would be shipping out the wrong items to the wrong buyer, but this way is a Brilliant idea if you print all of your labels out at one time! Also, there is the fact you must somehow record the shipping fees that you incurred (vs what ebay charged the buyer) for each order to record your true amount made of the sale of each order. All of this takes time as well. I say this just to give the viewer a true picture of how much time goes in to the entire Shipping Process daily!

Checking for any pencil markings of price from the op shops (thrift stores)
@backfromburnout Жыл бұрын
Many of the thrift shops write prices in pencil inside the book. One of our major local bookfairs does it also and those books then recycle through the thrift stores when they’ve been finished reading. So it’s just habit to immediately check every book prior to see if it needs erasing. All the bundles are checked and erased prior to photography

I will say, I prefer the pencil pricing structure than the stickers that are hard to remove and often rip and ruin the book covers.
