This is one of the best videos I've seen on small survival kits, I'm currently putting together a small kit and was able to get several good ideals from this video, I agree with you about knowing how to survive and knowing how to use your gear.

one of the best survival kit videos Ive seen, add a orange raincoat and two long strips of orange reflective plastic as long as your pouch and 4 to 5 meters long to form a cross for visibility from the air thats my 2 cents but good on you mate for making think about building my own kit.thanks.

Thank you! It works for me and I think it does cover the essentials. Other items can be added depending on the individuals needs, but I believe this is a great foundation to work up from. Thanks again for you kind comment!

Awesome Kit! Ive taken ideas from yours and RyanJ's kit and you have pretty much covered all possible avenues for survival here. Im a huge fan of the coffee filter and purification tablet idea. Very effective for getting some nice, clean, safe water. The mini first-aid kit is awesome too. Thanks for sharing your kit!

A quick tiny idea for food is at the health food store, you can get flat natural fruit leather for less than $1 each. they're very thin/flat and about the size of a personal check and you can keep several flat on the sides or bottom of the bag. Just a thought. Love your videos! Great info!

Thanks for the suggestion. I was not aware of the filter you speak of so I looked it up. I may look into trying one in the future especially when I retire this one due to use. If you are interested in info on the Frontier Pro, Look at Aquamira's website. Thanks for commenting!

I bought that same whistle at WalMart for this last summer's big camping trip! I thought it was VERY nifty. I saw a similar item at Cabela's shortly after I bought mine and I thought that the compass floated much better on the WalMart one. I was a happy camper. I actually tried to start a fire with its magnifying lense and couldn't even get the paper I was testing on to brown. It was about one in the afternoon but partially cloudy. In otherwords, I won't bet my life on it! LOL

Thanks for the helpful tips. By the way, the American Red Cross has a great multi-purpose item for emergency kits. It is an LED flashlight which also has a glow stick, flasher, and emergency whistle all in one. Very light too. You can buy this item at Wal-Mart also.

Excellent information and presentation. You've encuraged me to put together a similar pack. I'll be checking out your other vids too. First of all outstanding survival kit, your videos really do help me in being a better survivor and prepper. Something i would suggest for your survival pack to make more space and is extremely compact, it's the Best Glide ASE advanced ultimate survival kit, it is issued to the US Military and has everything u need to last u three days in the wilderness and is less or the exact size of you're EMT pouch, something to look into in my opinion, but they are not cheap, so something to look into.

Excellent video. Thanks a bunch. The coffee filters are a great idea. Also, I had found a backpack that comes with elastic chords that allow you to strap it in place behind your car seat and secure it. I found it in a discount store for 6 bucks. I have one in my truck for the just in case. one of the food items I carry in it is dog biscuts. Who would be tempted to eat them unless it was an extreme hunger situation right? Once again great video.

I do have several different packs and from time to time I switch them around a bit. A level 3 assault pack is a great option for a lady especially if they prefer a light pack or smaller sized pack that can carry a lot of gear. We do use the buddy system similar to the military sometimes like I carry half of the tent and she carries the other. continued...

I do store the saw in "wreath" or coil. I show the original package in the video so that those who may not know what to look for can see. I do keep the saw in a small ziploc style bag so that I can keep it lightly oiled. This makes it easier to cut with and helps to preserve it. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

great vid! there are a couple of things you should add that would not add any extra weight or take up room such as plastic TIE-WRAPS, strong ass hell and have endless uses. mini packets of salt ,tea bags,safety pins,pain killers, and some hard candy such as life savers ect..... caught a fish once using a life saver candy tied to my hook,but TIE-WRAPS are a must .

Nice kit dude. Seems like you really know what are you talking about. My kit is really similiar to yours. But Im using durable outdoor blanket instead of that foil crap cause its really good to know that I can build my permanent shelter in a matter of seconds. Ive also added 2 flares and condoms (not for that purpose). Your kit is pretty good but I think you should put more stuff inside. There is a lot of space in that pouch. Resect and good luck in the wilderness.
@PackRat55615 жыл бұрын
You are right! Actually I do keep duct tape in this kit but I had taken it out to use and forgot to return it prior to filming. I do keep duct tape in all my kits large or small b/c it is such a multi-use item. I have it wrapped around a homemade credit card, but the fishing kit idea is good as well! Thanks for watching and posting!

Great videos...just wondering if in the future or perhaps you can do a short video to tell us newbs places that we can get some of the stuff you are showing? I am just getting into the whole survival thing and there are a lot of places to buy gear...some help sorting out the good from the bad and the less expensive from the rip offs would be awesome.

First I would like to say, I enjoyed your video, your kit has a lot of good things in it, however your knife..May i suggest you get something bigger for a survival situation, with a bag that big, you could fit a freaking axe if you wished to. Now on the positive side, I did in particular like your idea with the coffee filters and the collapsible waterbag, that is smart thinking - thumbs up.

you got some nice stuff, but 1 thing i think you're missing is a bigger knife, you had a couple nice ones, but maybe a bigger bladed one can be fitted into the kit, just in case for protection, chopping and other useful things, great vid 10/10
@Candopax170114 жыл бұрын
My brother bought me the exact same kind of whistle that you have, and everything works great on it, except the compass. The compass has a bubble in it, and one little tap and compass will turn south. I was really dissapointed, because I have to carry an entirely different compass to make up for the failed compass in my whistle. So, if you get that whistle, make sure you check it and be sure the compass is working normally.

Hey pack rat, i enjoy watching your vids and i liked this one too. About the pouch i have the same one, only i use mine as a first aid kit. If you want some advice i would ditch the cheezy pocket knife and the saw and buy yourself a decent leatherman.

How about a head torch instead of / as well as the Maglite for some hands free lighting?
@Ficktao15 жыл бұрын
You could pack that stuff in a little pan for cooking and the whole thing would fit in the pouch (btw nice pouch, what is it called?). I've tried to make fire under most ideal circumstances with such a small lens, but it just wouldn't work (and I am good at making fires!). I suggest buying a fresnel lens, they are inexpensive, flat and flexible, and they do work very well!
@UnnamedEnder12 жыл бұрын
I would add a small bottle of alcohol because it can used to decontaminate cuts/wounds and also can be used for emergency fire in case temperature is low and/or the place you are trying to make the fire is wet :)

Keep up the great work. yuor videos are very helpfull. Hamm336 p.s. what part of the U.S. are you in? thanks again Hamm336

@nathanlief12 жыл бұрын
You could carry a few cotton balls and stick them in the end of the filter as a prefilter to possibly get a few more gallons. Also do not under estimate bleach 2-4 drops in a liter and 30 mins will kill just about everything. You can put bleach in those small breath drop bottles would treat 15 gallons of water. Bleach in a eye drop container would treat around 60 gallons. Very light option especially in a survival situation.
