Nice work and very clean, what size trace wire do you use.

I'm in Iowa in the United States. If i ship you my unit, could you do this repair on mine. And what would you charge? Nobody in the 'States' want's to do this.

I have the exact same question from Norway, but I assume shipping cost+repair would be close to a new unit all things considered..? Would it be possible to upgrade to USB-C? 🤔 At least for power supply/charging?

Where are you located? I have similar issues with my charging port on my Packtalk Bold.

Greatly appreciate you video. I am doing the same repair and I just got some gear today (soldering station and the other supplies, based on your video). It's also my first serious repair of this kind. This being said, my traces are not ripped as much as yours, basically by straightening them a bit they reach all the way to where the soldering points used to be (those wider parts of the traces which now reside nicely on the pins of the ripped connector). I ordered some replacement ones, they are called lugs on ebay. I am totally noob when it comes to the terminology :) . My plan is to try to solder those lugs directly on the straightened traces and then put UV resin to stabilize everything. My question is, is it ok to straighten those ends of the four traces and just use them? mine were lifted about 2-3 mms each. I saw that you cut them instead ... is there a reason not to do it the way I plan to? Many tnxs again :)

Good luck with the repair, hope all goes well! yeah if the four pads are just lifted you can straighten them and plant them in place with UV resin. Should be fine.

@@UberMicroRepairs tnx, I'm going deeper down the rabbit hole. Instead of using copper wires I want to try to use copper pads and glue them with a heat resistant epoxy I found, called Chemtronics CW2500. It should look tidier in the end but it will be more expensive. If it works in practice as I imagine it will that is :)))

pff, partial success, it charges but the app doesn't see it. Most likely I screwed up one of the traces. At least I was already at the latest firmware version and I doubt Cardo will release a new update for the slim. It's pretty old by now.

My pack talk slim has the same problem. It's now out of warranty. Anyone I Brisabne Australia want to give this a go or do you know what type of person to take this too to get fix, seems pretty specialized.
