Man, it didn't occur to me that something as simple as limiting the player's FOV can make Pacman scary. The ghosts could jump out at you from behind any corner.

The way that the map deteriorates as you progress is extremely cool. It leaves you to wander aimlessly and follow the lit paths in front of you ehile you're constantly on edge.

Honestly, only being able to see pellets and ghosts down where PacMan himself can see them is a pretty creative difficulty curve.

I admire this game for being unlike most "haunted" ROMs, and not relying on screamers or creepy image flashes to scare the player.

I think that this game is probably the best example of .exe-type game. It's "glitched" in just the right proportion - no hyprerelistick blod!!!!, no "dead children spirits", only glitched sprites and music, something that looks like it COULD happen to a game and that's what makes it scary - realism. Also, the dead silence instead of some cheap jumpscares or Pac-Man exploding into bloody bits is a lot more scarier, however surprising it sounds for all young horror game developers. The FOV concept isn't new, but fits the game perfectly with it's one-wide corridors and enemies popping in and out. The enemies are fine and pretty creepy too, especially the red-train-of-spook-one, even though Slendy is a little bit too intrusive, IMO. Overall, that's what horror game makers, especially "haunted software"-like, should strive for - simple, but refined, realistic, but not hyper-realistic, thought-out and not "i want all the scary shit in my game and also it should have real life murder lore".

Blindy: Aimlessly wanders around the maze, hoping it runs into Pac-Man by random luck. Screamy: Also wanders around but will rush towards Pac-Man once he’s in sight, occasionally glitches into ’normal’ sprite. Slendy: Behavior is similar to Slender Man, randomly appears in front of Pac-Man, turn away from it to survive, will not appear when using power pellet. Old One: Will slowly follow Pac-Man through the map, ignores walls and cannot appear when power pellet is used. ???????: The map begins to disappear making it harder to find the pellets. RUN: Shadow version of Pac-Man, follows exact movements and gets faster, eventually reaching Pac-Man. Causes player to go into a first-person version where the game finally ends when it catches Pac-Man.
