That brought back some fine memories! I remember when I was a kid back in the early seventies. Me and a buddy doubled up on his Bonanza BC 1300 SH and rode about 25 miles, at about 2 am to meet our girlfriends. For those who don't know what a BC 1300 SH is. It was just about the coolest mini bike you could own in the 60's/70's. It had a 100cc Hodaka 5 speed two stroke motorcycle engine on it, and would do over 50 MPH! Those were the days, back in Ohio as a 13 year old kid. I'm now 57 y/o living in Arizona, but I haven't lost the bug for mini bikes. I'm now building a BC 1300 SH clone from a BC 1300. And for the guy with the "why would anyone over 10 y/o comment" you must never have had a passion for anything, because things like this never leave your soul. Tear it up my brothers!

We had a lot of homemade ones that look similar to theirs. I remember crashing on my friends. We had a throttle that was a straightened copper hanger tied on the frame next to our inner thigh and no brakes. It was all Flintstones when it came time to stop. Those were the days Man fun times😂😂😂

I am a fat old gearhead that still has a cheap Chinese pocket bike with a not so cheap dangerously fast engine. Man, back in the '70's we used to ride them everywhere. Sometimes get caught ,sometimes they drive by... I miss those days.. That Cop was MAD COOL though.. He just trusted you would push them the rest of the way.. Hope someone was able to come pick you up .. looks like you covered a good piece of distance .. Nice video..

These bikes are far from 49cc they were made for off-road use only not to be used the same way as a car and has to travel under or at 20mph max no faster and not even wearing a helmet well damn you get hit or fall off at the speeds your traveling at well you better pray to god because your either dead or really fucked up there just young and dumb kids and it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt so drive a little safer next time because you may not get another chance to

You really need to get yourself a couple of main jets, and keep going down in size until you start getting the throttle response you are looking for. Once you achieve that, go to the next smaller main jet. See if response improves. If it's still slightly rich, THEN move your needle clip up a notch. If it gets better, but not perfect, move it up another notch. If not, move the clip back down to where it was, and go with the next smaller main jet, and repeat. Here is a sentence out of the link from what is probably the best description and troubleshooting guide I have found: "If the engine is having troubles at low rpm (idle to 1/4 throttle), the pilot system or slide valve is the likely problem. If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem." There is a reason that needle has five grooves on it. Don't be afraid to use them.

I remember when I was a teen back in the 70's, minibikes were hugely popular in New Jersey (and most everywhere else). We used to ride our RUPPs, Honda CT70 and SL70s, Kawasaki 75's everywhere, and when we got pulled over, the cops would tell us to walk the bike home. Now here in Ohio, I see adults riding these things up and down their streets, so they are making a comeback. Lots of Chinese Z50 and CT70 clones.

actually Walmart started selling them I think their like 300-400 or something you can look it up they come with a 97cc baja engine you have to give a little kick off to start moving but can get up to around 35mph I took the governor off mine tho didn't test it with it on lol their best little things and heck if you don't want it in mini bike use the engine and make a gocart lol possibilitys are endless if you have time tools and imagination XD

I envy you... That looks like so much fun... I disagree with riding on major streets or highways but man, that's so cool. I always wanted one of those exact types of mini bikes when I was a kid. I think that people should be able to ride them on side/neighborhood streets, though. That cop was very cool and just told you not to ride on the roads. I you had a 50cc engine or smaller engine, like those cheap scooters that everyone is riding around, you can ride those on right on the road and not get pulled over at all. Not as powerful but you can ride it anywhere. I remember being pulled over in the '70s for riding on the street. Got 3 tickets, probably about 13 years old.

It depends on which state you live in. There are 5 states it's illegal to ride any type of motorized bike (pedal assisted or not) without registering and insuring it. Pennsylvania and New York are two of the states.

grate mini bike sip gas depending on your mods but if you keep it stock (except removing the governor) then you can ride all day it takes 49 cents to fill my gas tank to full and I can go for 3 hours before I finally get down to a quarter and my lid leaks gas! so they do realy good lol

Sears, Taco, Gilson Brothers, Rupp, I've had them all, mini bikes ARE cool, but no lights, no mirrors, what made you think you WERN'T going to get stopped? You guys are lucky that cop was cool, in the city they would have been towed, and maybe sent to auction. In the 60's a lot of makers of riding mowers made them and carts too, Frame, engine, tires, chain, seat, (same parts, different arrangement). Nice video!

you need to check your state laws on how many cc's you need a license for. here in arkansas we can ride 200cc and smaller without a license. but it needs to be up to code for traffic safety. working lights and blinkers and must be able to keep up with the flow of traffic.

You can build one. You can go on Craigslist and get one to use or fix. Or buy one brand new. Best idea is get a cheap ass one from Craigslist (around $65) and get a 65hp 212cc engine from Harbor Freight for $120. A guy weighing at 160 pounds will go about 50mph. Or 120cc for about $90 ish will go about 30mph.

The debates about how someone else is supposed to have fun is great if you are 14 or 15. These guys can choose to ride whatever they desire, and on this ride, they chose minibikes.
