I love how he plays... So effortless. It's almost as if he simply sits there, and allows his fingers to translate the spirit of flamenco through the strings, whilst he sits and listens to what it say to him. There's no composition, theres no process behind it, it's just fluidity. Flamenco is a dynamic language without words, and Paco speaks it his way - and perfectly so.
@madmagyver99815 жыл бұрын
And to add to the story Paco was under tremendous pressure from the flamenco community for changing such a revered song. So this particular version was very special. Obvious to anyone

One of the ways you can really tell a master is by their economy of motion. With the exception of one section late in "Impetu" with very rapid thumb movement, most of the time his right hand movements are so small and fluid and unhurried that they seem to be occurring in slow motion. He is not moving more than a micrometer more than he needs to, and as someone trying to really improve my technique, it's incredible to watch.
@standartenfuhrerhanslanda-41322 жыл бұрын
the rapid thumb movement you refer to is the flamenco technique of alzapua and as a flamenco player i can tell you it is incredibly incredibly incredibly INCREDIBLY difficult to get to his level of speed and precision with alzapua

These two pieces by Escudero and Esteban respectively, were learned most likely by Paco slowing down the turns of his record players. It is possible he learned them when he visted NY where Escudero lived during the mid 60's. It is safe to assume that neither Escudero (gitano nor Esteban Sanlucar (payo) could read the score to their own compositions either, if it were shown to them. Flamenco guitar has a different discipline for learning than other guitar genres.
