Hello Rollen From Spain 57 years old and metal lover But also a fan of Paco de Lucia 1. In Paco de Lucia there is metal? Of course there is But there is also punk, pop, soul... on the basis of flamenco. Paco is what he wants, when he wants and how he wants. 2. We forget, or we don't pay attention, to his work as a composer. Great interpreter? Yes...he is unique But about his own work He is a musician on another level Paco is: Great playing + passion Great at composing Great for his influence He is a musician of musicians Thanks for your sensitivity You really know... Greetings to all

It is impossible to do more with nylon and wood (he is a humble craftsman). And above all he pays attention to his right hand. There are many guitarists with his left hand but none with his right hand...that is the key. Thanks for all

Amamos a Paco.

have you seen that perfect left hand? have you seen that right hand fly? There are all the possible sounds in metal, in classical, in flamenco... in any style because Paco does not leave a single note unplayed, nor an area of the neck to sweep... good reaction compadre

This is Paco in the mid-90s. He was at his technical peak here in my opinion, but his skill as a composer just kept going. I think his music on Cositas Buenas, one of his final albums is just jaw dropping. It is so subtle and perfect; I’ve never heard a better album of flamenco for the guitar. About bending. The nylon string guitar doesn’t bend well, it just pulls the string out of tune, especially when you’re using a capo as Paco is in this piece. As it is, you saw how Paco had to quickly reach over and try to fix an out-of-tune string a couple of times while he was playing. Flamenco guitarists play HARD. It takes way more muscular effort to make that sound than any steel string or electric guitar. Few amplified guys can make a flamenco guitar sound well with a pick. Al di. Meola is an exception because he plays pretty firmly.

The "minera" anda "taranta" are usually dual genres with voice and guitar that express the pain of the hard work of the miner. Both, singer and guitar, get a wonderful misture full of soft tones. You should listen to Paco and Camarón de la Isla playing together in this vídeo: En la boca de la mina. You will enjoy it.

Here we got a glimpse of the more classic flamenco side of Paco. It´s a medley of 2 flamenco genres:minera and fandango (fandango starts when you said "there´s metal there").Minera is a type of song related to the people who work in the mines in Southeast Spain (Minera literally means "Miner") Here we have Paco´s instrumental take but both genres usually have vocal parts. I´m glad you like this music! Greetings from Spain and have a Happy new year!

Fandangos (to be complete: Fandangos de Huelva) is the up-tempo part, the title of the piece is "Montiño". The more free-form intro is Mineras. On different occasions Paco plays Montiño with different intros (sometimes without), this one is probably the longest. Several performances with different intros can be found on youtube, search for: paco de lucia montino.

Wow. I don't know the technical term for it but when he effortlessly strums the strings to sound like a mandolin, while other rhythms are going on, and he just sits in his own world. A 6 six string classical guitar, no trickery, just talent

The reaching behind the nut is to press the string to release it from the nut - nylon strings go out of tune easily under hot lights and even from the heat of your hands and if you have to keep playing and can't stop to tune you can sometimes press the string hard behind the nut and improve tuning enough to finish the tune.

Is difficult and hard to bend a nylon string, to ‘make’ a half step, semitone, you’ll need to, almost, touch the adjacent string, so he is using a lot, and to reach that ‘arab-flamenco’ sound, a classical spanish guitar technique: the “glissando” (it’s used in blues a rock as well).
