Hey Thread Heads! just a quick classic for today. One of the flies I always have in my stillwater box and sometimes on the stream. I like the color combo of the original black and silver. You can vary this up in a million different ways playing with the bead, thread or wire colors. Keep a hook in your vises!

Thanks Jody. I've been tying up lots of midges out of Pat Dorsey's Colorado guide book. Lots of tiny gems inside

Just wondering, do you worry about getting UV resin on your vise jaws? I'm just beginning tying, and I'm not sure if I should apply resin on the vise or elsewhere. Thanks, a very helpful video.
@PiscatorFlies4 жыл бұрын
I do get a bit on the vise from time to time, but it doesn’t stick to the jaws too badly. If you are worried about it happening you could use a hackle plier to hold the fly. Cheers and thanks for dropping in

Chimo, nice ZM. Thanks for another taper demo. So when and how do you take care of that thread tag? I thought you'd pull out your blade or singe it without supervision ;o) Doesn't the resin make it harder to cut? Just curious, I'm sure the fish won't mind a little "soul patch", lol. How's the water? Cheers

Chimo Joe, it gets a little stiffer from the UV, but you can still cut it no problem. It the tyer's problem more than the fish, lol. I haven't been out, too much water in the system right now, It'll be about a week or so I think before things start to settle. I've got lots to do in the meantime. :( Cheers

@@PiscatorFlies same here, going to rain all week. They're sandbagging Sodus Bay on L. Ontario. The shoreline flooding getting worse every year. Hope you get to go out.

I hope I get out soon also. Walked out by the river and it's chocolate milk right now. More rain today, tons of flooding around Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick. I'm tying flies instead. Cheers

@@PiscatorFlies Yep pretty bad. grigri077 posted two videos showing high water. I think he's from Quebec and the view was I think of the Lake while driving on a highway. cheers
