hi jim i want to say thanks for all the nice videos you have done on here for us . i have been tying flies for about a year and a half now . i remember when i was first trying to tie off a fly how bad the hackle would get under my whips i cam up with a cheap and easy fix for this , and i want to share it with you because you can then pass it along to more people if you also like it. i take a drinking straw and cut it about 1/4 inch in length and slide it over the bobbin when im ready to finis

I know this was filmed awhile ago but is still a classic, the best ones I've seen of these out there. I don't know how I missed them. Thinking these are going to be my new favorites.

Also, if you helicopter the wire off, rather than clipping it, it comes off smoother and without an annoying tag to bind down.

I find using Uni floss on a bobbin and tying in the wire with that makes for a smoother body. I only use the tying thread at the end, after I have built up the body with the floss. Just a different way to skin the same cat.

slide it up and it will hold the hackle out of the way. straws come in all sizes as do flies. thanks again for the great demos i hope to do some of my own someday. thanks ivan
