Paddle vs Motor Speeds in a Canoe

Canoes are amazing as to what they haul in weight and where they can go. However, as you said, they are just not very fast.

Of course, on a lake or large river I’d rather have a motor canoe from a utility standpoint. But, there is something special about a traditional canoe hunting or fishing trip if it’s practical for your location.
