Beautiful brookie. That's a good size for Algonquin.

What a lot of beautiful fish! It's always great to see someone catching brookies without worms, it gives me more hope for my chances lol. Better for the fish too. Isn't it weird having a protected season on invasive bass? Can't be good for the trout population.

Well you count me out then . Always use worms . What's the harm? I use single hooks and don't even use a landing net or even touch the fish . The lakes i fish have no bass in them .
@CanadianSledDog
@CanadianSledDog Жыл бұрын
@@alexs3447 I never use worms cause I don't wanna go get them. Price of gas or time. That's about the only reason. But live bait is more likely to get swallowed deep. Not that it would be a problem for me, I'm fishing for keeps.

@@CanadianSledDog My experience is that if you run out of worms the trip is over .I use a single hook so if its deep i have mini side cutters cut the shaft of the hook .I release almost all the fish i catch .

Hey Liam, ya you definitely don't need worms it's too much of a hassle on a longer backcountry trip. They'd probably all die. In good brookie lakes you don't need them. The protected season for zone 15 which covers all of Algonquin. There are some bass only lakes outside the park where it makes sense...but ya it doesn't make sense in Algonquin in my opinion. I'd love to see them all gone here. Thanks for watching the video!

@@AleconAdventures Got to disagree . Have carried worms on 5 day trips and could have done longer . Just get the right containers .Been on some good lakes and worms were still useful. I usually went solo and carrying worms and a small sonar unit was not a hassle. And i am single tripping portages . Its a question of organization and good equipment choices . But watching many youtube videos i realize i may have been a brute in the bush.

Nice trip. Typical fishing grass is always greener, you portage 3 difficult lakes and catch 2 beauty monster specs, looked liked 2 and 4lbs, right off your camp, lol. Imagine how the fishing must be in the centre of the park, cheers🎉

Definitely worth the effort for fish like that! It was an awesome trip, I felt very fortunate to be out there. Life got pretty busy, with a move and the start of our busy season at work. Haven't had a chance to get out much lately, but have a big trip coming up this month! Thanks for watching.

Sir, AWESOME FOOTAGE, are there any specific books you would recommend a guy invest in to plan trips based on brookies? What is the price ya spend on a trip for sites? Is the booking hard to come by?
@AleconAdventures
@AleconAdventures 8 ай бұрын
The Friends of Algonquin sell books about Algonquin and the fishing, nothing specific to recommend. Backcountry park permits cost around $16 per night for adults plus a small reservation fee. Booking demand varies, July and August weekends are very busy.

Dude, that brook trout at 14:22 was bleeding like a siv, due to those dreaded treble hook lures. Too bad people don't utilize split rings and swap out for a single hook. That beautiful brookie most likely died.
@AleconAdventures
@AleconAdventures 6 ай бұрын
I am planning to switch out my trebles for singles, it is good for conservation. I personally don't think the fish died.

@@AleconAdventures I would be surprised if that fish lived. Glad to hear you are going to utilize split rings and swap out the dreaded trout mangle mouth treble hooks for a single hook. More people need to study coldwater fish, or take classes and learn best management practice for conservation. If only more people would have the self consciousness to utilize split rings and single hooks for conservation. Even if the greedy corporations don't have split rings on their lures, that is still no excuse, because one can just cut the treble hook trout mangle mouths off and add a split ring and single hook.
