As a Wednesday fan I’ve never known a player to get as much shit from the crowd but take it on the chin and give it back in a good way. Always had respect for paddy for that and it was always good hearted even though it was savage at times 😂

You guys should know that Derek Dooley was a Wednesday striker before needing his leg amputated after an horrific injury got infected. He scored 46 goals in his first full season, becoming a club legend and eventually manager, so his arrival at Utd as a board member was controversial for Blades..

Used to go palace regular and remember paddy at Sheffield, he used to get absolutely slaughtered by the fans and he just smiled, waved and made class saves for 90 mins, as a shy kid looking for some confidence I didn’t know how the fuck he did it, thought fucking hell this guys a fucking soldier!

I went to school with Paddy, I remember dreading having to go out in the snow and sleet to play football on the top field, Paddy just loved it. Paddy will remember Noel, Gerard, Danny Megson and myself Danny Hatton, I hated it though, they loved it.

Cracking interview. Would love to hear about his drug ban. Think at the time he did an interview and said he had kids cough medicine. The story after that would be good though. He came back from the ban and played a game and was praised by all the blades fans but then went to QPR. 2nd game of the following season he played against us and got booed to hell. They won 3-0 and Blackwell got the sack after that game . Paddy went up with QPR that season though and we went down.

Mint Jelly Media I remember that QPR game was only 9 years old they was 3-0 up in about 25 minutes. We was shocking but i remember that Kenny’s mrs chant that was going about. a lot of “You fat bastard” going about too 😂 I remember my dad even telling me as i don’t recall, but that game a bloke had been abusing him all game (we were sat quite a distance not that Kenny would’ve heard any) and a woman was sat next to him with a young kid. Eventually she spoke up and asked him to stop to which he replied “Sorry luv, but he’s a right cunt”

@@FootballFury Sounds about right. I think he is forgiven now though. Once a few years before that at a game, I forget who against, I was sat in the family stand and we were losing at half time. Paddy booted the ball in to the crowd which went straight for my head (I was about 12 or something). I ducked and it hit the poor old bloke behind me flush in the face. Broke his glasses and cut his face up bad. Paddy ran in to the crowd and gave the bloke the match ball but he wasn’t happy, rightly so. Paddy could be a tool but he was a great character for us.
