I'd have loved to have met him, even if he's still alive, I've only got a very finite chance now, same goes for any of The Dubliners to be honest, I met Sean Cannon in Birmingham and became completely star struck, I became stiff as a board, total brain meltdown 🤣 But there are a load of folk musicians and singers I'd love to have met

So true....my Dad grew up down the road from the Burkes in Athenry....this is a powerful song with plenty of memories of the bog road, Dad's bump, Cappomoyle, Newcastle Church, the pitch, the town of Athenry and it's amazingly loving and warm people ... I think paddy is one of the best singers I've ever heard, and I am always listening to new sounds and songs, but paddies deep voice and super clear diction has not been equaled in my opinion. Brilliant.
