Those of us whose families were assimilated by force are the gorgeres... Is according to the true blood now.. They have forgotten we know the language too. That was always taught. ;)

I have goosebumps, my great grandpa was a traveler and scrap dealer from Germany. My family has been settled for a long time, but I still feel very connected to my roots. it's just in your blood you can't explain it. greetings to all travelers out there in the world.

My family emigrated to Ireland after suffering heavy persecution and then when the potatoe famine hit escaped on the coffin ships to the America’s. The only traditional thing that remained was renaming the children after the father. I went back to visit and was told never to use my biological name. I want to learn more about my traditions, language, and people. I feel so disconnected from my people. But even now I’m the “mom” to the travellers here. I am the last stop to get a drink, warm meal, clean socks, and a warm shower. Is there anyway you could help me become reconnected with our traditions?

why the fuck do you people look up stuff like this to insult people? Just listen to Sean Tyrell singing this beautiful song and appreciate it for what it is, stop hating and start learning for yourself about the things you profess to hate. Or is it that you are rotten through with hatred? Ps there is another verse to this song apparently, anyone know of it? I sing one starry night meself and would love to get the lost verse. thanks.

You do a lovely version of it also Katie...The first time I ever heard this song was from the singing of the great Liam Weldon from Ballyfermot in Slattery's, Capel Street in the early 70's....
